Upper Lip Swelling? Do Consider Pleomorphic Adenoma
AbstractUpper lip is a very important esthetic subunit of the face that contributes to facial beauty. It also aids in functions like mastication and phonation. However, the muscular, the adipose and the glandular components predispose it to numerous pathologies. This paper is intended to emphasize on the fact that the documented cases of pleomorphic adenoma of the upper lip arising from the minor salivary glands are increasing. Hence, whenever an oral and maxillofacial surgeon encounters an upper lip swelling, it is now a must to consider pleomorphic adenoma as one of the probably entities. Assessment of Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) Incidence Following Closed Sinus Lift and Ridge Splitting Surgeries: A Cohort Study
ConclusionThe study suggests closed sinus lift surgery may have a higher risk of BPPV than ridge split surgery, but further studies with larger sample are needed to confirm this association. (Source: Journal of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery)

Accidental Displacement of Third Molar: A Systematic Review
ConclusionWhen displacement occurs, the risk/benefit of immediate or delayed extraction should be assessed. If there is a risk to vital structures and there is no symptomatology, it can be kept under follow-up. CBCT is the best method for preoperative localization. Treatment Modalities to Achieve Nasal Symmetry in Unilateral Cleft Lip/Nasal Deformity: An Objective and Comparative Evaluation
ConclusionIn our study, group V, i.e., modified Millard ’s repair with semi-open rhinoplasty improved the results in terms of all the objective parameters assessed. The results of the other groups showed improvement though not consistent in all parameters. Naso-alveolar molding is an effective adjunct. Additionally, nasal conformers proved to be of gre at value in retaining the results obtained post-surgery. (Source: Journal of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery)
