Early Surgery: Le Fort I Advancement in a 6-Year-Old Patient —A Therapeutic Approach Using a Modified Le Fort I Osteotomy
AbstractOrthognathic surgery in young patients before completion of skeletal growth is still sharply discussed today. In the following case report of a 6-year-old patient, however, there was a vital indication for treatment. The main clinical symptoms were characterized by impaired hearing as a result of constantly recurring seromucotympanum and adenoids, persistent rhinorrhea and otorrhea, chronic tonsillitis and chronic otitis media. Lunch Box Penetrating Injury in the Craniofacial Region Impedes the Primary Airway Management and Surgical Intervention
AbstractPenetrating Cranio-Maxillofacial trauma obscuring the clear view of the face in addition to an impediment to emergency airway management has been a rare occurrence in the archives of emergency trauma. A four-year-old girl reported to the emergency following a lunch box sharp rim penetrating wound to her left supraorbital region, limiting the access and clear view of her face. CT scan ruled out the serious orbital injury, but clearly revealed the piercing of the brain matter in the frontal region. The toddler ’s golden hour of primary management was spent in the darkness with the lunch box covering her entire face...

Recurrence Patterns of Odontogenic Keratocysts in Syndromic and Non-Syndromic Patients
ConclusionWe found a higher recurrence rate in patients with NBCCS compared with patients with non-syndromic OKCs (21.4 versus 15.8%). The probability of developing a second primary OKC in patients with NBCCS was higher compared with that in patients with non-syndromic OKCs (76.9 versus 0%). No statistically significant risk factors for OKC recurrence were identified. (Source: Journal of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery)
