Is There a Need for Greater Emphasis on Clinical Facial Analysis than Cephalometrics & amp; 3D Software Solutions in the Diagnosis and Treatment Planning of Patients with Dentofacial Deformities?
ConclusionHuman faces should always be evaluated taking into consideration the various esthetic units of the face. Performing corrective jaw surgery merely based on cephalometric values inevitably fails to address the various other innate imbalances of the face. Hence, cephalometric data should only be considered as an adjunct to clinical judgment in the diagnosis and treatment planning of dentofacial deformities. Comparison of Ondansetron and Palonosetron on Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting in Patients Undergoing Maxillofacial Surgery: A Prospective Randomized Double-Blind Clinical Trial
ConclusionBoth ondansetron and palonosetron are equally effective for the early postoperative hours (first six hours); thereafter, palonosetron is slightly more effective than ondansetron in the late postoperative period (6th to 24th hours) for the prevention of PONV following Maxillofacial surgeries under general anesthesia. Lateral Cephalometric Landmark Annotation Using Histogram Oriented Gradients Extracted from Region of Interest Patches
ConclusionThe results demonstrate that traditional machine learning techniques can be effective for accurate landmark detection in cephalometric images, even with limited data. Our findings highlight the potential of these techniques for clinical applications, where large datasets of labelled images may not be available. (Source: Journal of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery)

Hara Hara Mahadev (HHM) maneuver: Simple Yet Effective Way of Post-Operative Physiotherapy after Reconstruction with Pectoralis Major Myo-cutaneous Flap in Oral Cancer Defects
AbstractIntroductionPectoralis major myo-cutaneous flap remains time-tested work horse for reconstruction of postsurgical oral cancer defects despite of popularity of free flaps. But postoperatively majority of attention is provided to recipient site and its complications and donor site complications are often overlooked. Reduced post-operative mobility of shoulder joint and drooping shoulder ’ after injury to spinal accessory nerve being the most common donor site morbidities.MethodTo overcome this complication, we have introduced a novel Physiotherapeutic maneuver named “Hara Hara Mahadev” (HHM) Maneuver. Wherei...

Comparison Between Pre-COVID and Post-COVID Mucormycosis: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
ConclusionThe prevalence of systemic conditions such as diabetes in cases of mucormycosis has remained the same even after the incidence of this pandemic, showing that the basic treatment modalities continue to remain the same irrespective of the damage that corona virus has caused to the sufferer, although mucormycosis arising due to COVID-19 differs from mucormycosis that was incident before the advent of the pandemic. Does Unidirectional Polyglycolide Caprolactone Barbed Suture Have Improved Outcomes Over Non-barbed Suture When Applied for Intra-oral Incision Closure?
ConclusionMonofilament unidirectional PGCL barbed suture has merits over the non-barbed suture with regards to superior post-operative incision healing, reduced incision closure time (43%), lower post-operative pain and comparable ease of suture handling. Hence, knotless PGCL suture is a promising alternative for intra-oral surgical incision closure in oral and maxillofacial surgery. (Source: Journal of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery)
