Stress Distribution of the Zygomatic Implants in Post-mucormycosis Case: A Finite Element Analysis
AbstractAimThe aim of this study was to assess the stress distribution of  the zygomatic implants in maxillectomy cases and to understand the long-term prognosis of this rehabilitation option using finite element analysis.Materials and MethodsA three-dimensional finite element model was designed using computed tomography of a patient who underwent maxillectomy post-mucormycosis. Zygomatic implants and abutments were designed based on the manufacturer ’s design. Quad zygomatic implants were placed in the canine and premolar region into the zygomatic bone bilaterally. A prosthesis with an entire complement of teeth extend...

Pseudocarcinomatous Squamous Hyperplasia After Surgical Management Of Pediatric Ameloblastoma: An Immunohistochemical Study
AbstractPseudocarcinomatous squamous hyperplasia (PSH) affecting the jaws is uncommon. The mandible is the most common location, usually as a complication associated with osteomyelitis, medication-related osteonecrosis or osteoradionecrosis. Herein, we report an 8-year-old male patient presenting a solid ameloblastoma, plexiform type, who was treated by segmental mandibulectomy with bone grafting. Three months later, on the underlying graft, a sinus tract was observed, and a small bone fragment was resected which was diagnosed as bone sequestration associated with PSH. After 7-year follow-up, the patient is well, without a...

Sialendoscopic Management and Gland Preservation in an Unusual Case of Extensive Submandibular Sialolithiasis
AbstractSialolthiasis is one of the most common benign pathologies of the salivary glands. It is associated with frequent bacterial infections and significant discomfort. Large&/or multiple stones are traditionally treated by ductal marsupialisation or gland excision. Sialendoscopy, a relatively new minimally invasive technique is a useful technique which can preserve a functioning gland and reduce postoperative morbidity. The current report demonstrates the successful use of sialendoscopy in evacuating 13 stones from a submandibular gland. (Source: Journal of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery)
