Pure Laparoscopic Versus Robotic Liver Resections: Multicentric Propensity Score Based Analysis With Stratification According To Difficulty Scores
ConclusionRALR does not show operative nor clinically significant benefits over LLR for low and intermediate difficulty resections. By reducing conversion rates, RALR can favour the operative feasibility of difficult resections possibly extending the indications of minimally-invasive approaches for liver resection. Morphological study of the gastrointestinal tract around the ligament of Treitz using upper gastrointestinal radiography: Fundamental data for EUS ‐guided gastrojejunostomy
ConclusionsThe GI anatomy near the ligament of Treitz was clarified using upper GI radiography. It is divided into three patterns, and one-fourth of cases may have difficulty in EUS-guided gastrojejunostomy. (Source: Journal of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery)

Novel troubleshooting technique for the migration of a biliary plastic stent using a thin balloon catheter (with video)
AbstractPlastic stents (PSs) are commonly used to for obstructive jaundice (1, 2), but there are difficulties associated with removing migrated PSs. (3-5)A 75-year-old woman presented with obstructive jaundice due to hilar cholangiocarcinoma, and two PSs were inserted. After two years, re-intervention for the occlusion of PSs was performed. However, the right PS was migrated in the common bile duct above the papilla. (Source: Journal of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery)

The optimal timing of interval laparoscopic cholecystectomy following percutaneous cholecystostomy based on pathological findings and the incidence of biliary events
ConclusionIn terms of the clinical course and sequential pathological changes in the gallbladder, a 9- to 10-week interval after PC is the optimal timing for LC. (Source: Journal of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery)

Initial experience of endoscopic ultrasound ‐guided antegrade covered stent placement with long duodenal extension for malignant distal biliary obstruction (with video)
ConclusionsEASL has acceptable clinical outcomes with a low reintervention rate but higher rate of postprocedural pancreatitis in patients with non-pancreatic cancers. Randomized trials comparing EASL and conventional EUS-BD for MDBO with pancreatic cancers and DO/SAA after failed ERCP are needed to validate our findings. Obesity and Cholangiocarcinoma: A Review of Epidemiological and Molecular Associations
AbstractCholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a malignancy of bile duct epithelium, and its incidence is increasing globally. Numerous factors are reported associated with an increased risk of CCA and vary among populations across different areas. Obesity is a major, worldwide public health problem that leads to several complications and is associated with increased cancer risk. Although several epidemiological studies have shown that obesity is likely associated with the increased risk of CCA, this association might be limited to Western countries. Multiple hormones, cytokines, and metabolite perturbations in obese states have been...
