The significance of the osteosarcopenia as a predictor of the long ‐term outcomes in hepatocellular carcinoma after hepatic resection
ConclusionThe preoperative osteosarcopenia may be a prognostic factor in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma after hepatic resection. Our results suggests that the preoperative maintenance of skeletal muscle and bone density may potentially improve prognosis. (Source: Journal of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery)

Quantitative analysis of tissue area of endoscopic ultrasound ‐guided liver biopsy specimens using 19‐gauge fine‐needle biopsy needle in patients with diffuse liver disease: a single‐center retrospective study
ConclusionsEUS-LB using FNB has an optimal tissue yield and success rate and is safe compared to PLB. Thus, EUS-LB may be a new alternative to PLB. (Source: Journal of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery)

Chronological changes in the gut microbiota and intestinal environment in recipients and donors of living donor liver transplantation
ConclusionsThe GM and intestinal environment in LT recipients exhibited characteristics that were clearly different from those in donors. LT did not normalize but rather disrupted the GM during the early post-LT period, but its negative clinical impact could be minimized with perioperative management. Randomized phase III study of Gemcitabine, Cisplatin plus S ‐1 (GCS) versus Gemcitabine, Cisplatin (GC) for Advanced Biliary Tract Cancer (KHBO1401‐MITSUBA)
ConclusionsGCS is the first regimen which demonstrated the survival benefits as well as higher RR over GC in a randomized phase III trial and could be the new first-line standard chemotherapy for advanced BTC. To exploit the advantage of its high RR, GCS is now tested in the neoadjuvant setting in a randomized phase III trial for potentially resectable BTC.
