Does famine exposure in early life modify risks of metabolic diseases in Chinese adults? Evidence based on YiduCloud clinic data
ConclusionPeople who were born in years of the Chinese Famine had different risks of metabolic diseases like HTN and DM in middle ages. Selection of persistent undernutrition pressure after birth and in time replenishment of food with acquired catch-up growth after birth may help explain those different risks of metabolic diseases in adults who were born in early or later famine years. Anyway, malnutrition exposure in early stage of life alone does not likely change too much the risk of metabolic diseases. This study provides some details to fetal origins hypothesis of metabolic diseases. (Source: International Journal of ...

Association of fasting glucagon-like peptide-1 and glucose dependent insulinotropic polypeptide with dyslipidemia in newly diagnosed diabetes
ConclusionThe effect of GIP and GLP-1 measures on dyslipidemia were substantially different among NDD participants in our population. In the NDD group, GLP-1 is significantly moderately associated with dyslipidemia compared to GIP. (Source: International Journal of Diabetes in Developing Countries)

A preliminary analysis of mitochondrial DNA atlas in the type 2 diabetes patients
ConclusionTherefore, our results characterize the mtDNA atlas of patients with T2D and further demonstrate that mtDNA variants participate in the pathophysiology of T2D and other diseases. In addition, mtDNA variants may be candidate molecular biomarkers of T2D and may be valuable for early diagnosis of T2D in the future. RSSDI guidelines on thyroid dysfunction and diabetes
AbstractDiabetes and thyroid dysfunction coexist. There are several published guidances on screening detection and management of thyroid dysfunction in diabetes. The RSSDI has reviewed the evidence in the publish literature including India and provided a guidance to clinicians based on an expert review of the literature. Methods: A literature review was conducted of all published studies and the evidence was categorised by levels. The evidence was then reviewed by the expert group and a recommendation was provided with a grade. Summary: The relationship of hypothyroidism with T1DM is strong and warrants screening detection...

Selenoprotein P levels in patients with diabetes mellitus with complications
ConclusionsWe did not find high selenoprotein P levels in patients with complications, but its inverse association with high-density lipoprotein cholesterol indicates that it may play a role in developing cardiovascular disease in this community of patients.
