Advances in lung cancer surgery: the role of segmentectomy in early-stage management
Expert Rev Respir Med. 2024 Mar 8:1-7. doi: 10.1080/17476348.2024.2324083. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTINTRODUCTION: The evolving landscape of surgical interventions for early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) necessitates a reassessment of the traditional gold standard of lobectomy versus emerging sublobar resections, prompting this critical narrative review.AREAS COVERED: This review encompasses recent randomized controlled trials, notably JCOG0802/WJOG4607L and CALGB140503, comparing lobectomy and sublobar resections for early-stage NSCLC, focusing on tumor size and recurrence rates. It also discusses the impor...

Factors associated with anxiety and depression among patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
CONCLUSION: The prevalence of anxiety and depression among COPD patients necessitates targeted interventions. Future research that recruits a more diverse sample in multiple sites and establishes the cause-effect relationship between the study predictors and outcome could provide a more robust conclusion on factors associated with anxiety and depression among COPD patients.PMID:38454777 | DOI:10.1080/17476348.2024.2326512 (Source: Expert Review of Respiratory Medicine)

Diversity in pulmonary rehabilitation clinical trials: a systematic review of the literature
CONCLUSIONS: Inclusivity and representation in clinical trials are essential to ensure that research findings are generalizable. Clinical trialists need to consider the demographics of today's society during recruitment.PMID:38410864 | DOI:10.1080/17476348.2024.2324086 (Source: Expert Review of Respiratory Medicine)
