Preloaded DMEK with endo-in technique: Standardizing and minimizing the learning curve over 5 years using 599 corneal tissues
CONCLUSION: DMEK graft preparation requires a learning curve. However, an operator with DMEK stripping skills can easily adapt to pre-loading a DMEK graft in endothelium-inwards fashion with minimal learning curve.PMID:38099841 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231217127 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) towards glaucoma among new glaucoma patients and their first-degree relatives: A cross-sectional study in a tertiary eye care centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
CONCLUSION: Knowledge about glaucoma is still limited, and awareness programs need to be further activated to spread correct knowledge about the nature of glaucoma, the importance of compliance with treatment, the correct method of instilling eye drops, and the significance of screening at-risk individuals. Patient families should also be involved in educational programs.PMID:38099644 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231219300 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Boston Keratoprosthesis type 1 (KPro) without contact lens wearing in end-stage corneal disease: The APEC experience
CONCLUSIONS: We report the results of a retrospective cohort of twenty-three eyes (22 patients) who were implanted with a Boston type 1 KPro without contact lens wearing to treat corneal blindness. BSCVA improved significantly in most patients achieving 20/200 or better at the 2-year follow-up. Retention rate was 87%, with the presence of RPM as the most common complication.PMID:38099653 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231214076 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Effects of CSF1R/p-ERK1/2 signaling pathway on RF/6A cells under high glucose conditions
CONCLUSION: Overall, under high glucose, CSF1R and p-ERK1/2 were highly expressed, leading to reduced cellular activity, and CSF1R inhibition helped alleviate this effect.PMID:38099815 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231219717 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Clinical outcomes of stromal lenticule rotation to correct mixed astigmatism
CONCLUSIONS: The results for these five eyes suggest that the autologous stromal lenticule rotation technique is safe and effective; it may be an economical and feasible surgical option for correcting mixed astigmatism.PMID:38099818 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231221165 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Ink blot leakage in central retinal artery occlusion
CONCLUSION: We report a case of ink-blot leakage on FFA, similar to that observed in CSCR in an eye with acute CRAO. We propose that the hyperfluorescent spot in our acute CRAO was likely caused by red blood cell aggregation or rouleaux formation.PMID:38087415 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231220333 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

CONCLUSION: Considering the statistically significant increase in isolates in all glaucoma patients, we suggest that more care should be taken in terms of infection in surgical procedures planned for glaucoma patients.PMID:38087444 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231219275 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Myopia management algorithm. Annexe to the article titled Update and guidance on management of myopia. European Society of Ophthalmology in cooperation with International Myopia Institute
Eur J Ophthalmol. 2023 Dec 12:11206721231219532. doi: 10.1177/11206721231219532. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMyopia is becoming increasingly common in young generations all over the world, and it is predicted to become the most common cause of blindness and visual impairment in later life in the near future. Because myopia can cause serious complications and vision loss, it is critical to create and prescribe effective myopia treatment solutions that can help prevent or delay the onset and progression of myopia. The scientific understanding of myopia's causes, genetic background, environmental conditions, and various man...

Clinical and diagnostic profile of Tolosa-Hunt syndrome; a 7-year retrospective observational study
CONCLUSION: Restriction of eye movements was the most common symptom, along with cavernous sinus being the most common site of involvement in THS. MRI scans are important diagnostic tools for THS.PMID:38092690 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231221590 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)
