Semi-adjustable posterior approach for congenital ptosis repair- outcomes of local and general anesthesia
CONCLUSION: Posterior approach levatorpexy is a safe and effective procedure for repairing congenital ptosis in patients with good levator function. This technique is suitable for young patients and those unable to undergo surgery under local anesthesia. This technique offers post-operative modification due to its semi-adjustable nature.PMID:38602026 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241247426 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Mutational spectrum and deep phenotyping in Pseudoxanthoma Elasticum: Findings from a Portuguese cohort
CONCLUSIONS: This study describes the genetic spectrum of patients with PXE for the first time in a Portuguese cohort. A total of 16 different variants in ABCC6 were found (7 of which are novel), thus highlighting the genotypic heterogeneity associated with this condition and expanding its mutational spectrum. Still, no major genotype-phenotype associations could be established.PMID:38602027 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241247676 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Atypical phacolytic glaucoma diagnosed by biometry and anterior segment optical coherence tomography (OCT) in a patient with CMV anterior uveitis
CONCLUSION: This is the first time that we image and document the phacolytic nature of a natural lens. Our patient did not have the typical clinical presentation and was differentially diagnosed with biometry SS-OCT and confirmed by anterior segment SD-OCT.PMID:38602030 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241246816 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

The need for more pragmatic trials in glaucoma research
CONCLUSION: Despite the number of RCTs in glaucoma, there is still a need for more pragmatic studies.PMID:38602016 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241247428 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Comparison of GATT versus micropulse transscleral diode laser cyclophotocoagulation combined with GATT in patients with advanced glaucoma
CONCLUSION: GATT was found to be effective in the treatment of patients with advanced glaucoma, and results closer to the targeted low teens IOP values were obtained with GATT + MP-TDLC.PMID:38602018 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241247440 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)
