An unusual ophthalmologic finding in a patient with congenital central hypoventilation syndrome
CONCLUSIONS: Ophthalmologic abnormalities are common in patients with CCHS and include horizontal strabismus, pupil and iris abnormalities and ptosis. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of MED in association with CCHS. Further studies are needed to determine if an association between MED and CCHS exists or is just a casual finding in this case.PMID:38403966 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241235241 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Real-world experience with fluocinolone acetonide intravitreal implant in patients with diabetic macular edema
CONCLUSION: FAc implant provides a substantial long-term functional and anatomical benefit when used as second-line treatment in eyes with DME. IOP rise can be adequately managed with topical agents although some eyes may require IOP-lowering surgery.PMID:38396370 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241235266 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Clinical evaluation of tear substitute utility after anti-VEGF intravitreal injection
CONCLUSIONS: In our study patients undergoing for the first time intravitreal treatment presented dry eye symptoms in the postoperative period: in this group of patients the use of a tears substitute reduces postoperative ocular discomfort.PMID:38389327 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241234427 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

The Cutler-Beard flap for upper eyelid reconstruction: Surgical indications revisited
CONCLUSIONS: Although non-bridging techniques are usually favored to reconstruct large upper eyelid defects, the Cutler-Beard bridge flap is a valuable technique in case of large horizontal defects where the vertical gap is greater than 15 mm. Further surgical steps are rarely necessary; however, alternative techniques should be considered following excision of highly malignant tumors.PMID:38384118 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241234417 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

FAST ® questionnaire for identifying glaucoma patients at risk for ocular surface disease
CONCLUSIONS: The FAST® questionnaire is a valid and reliable tool for use in routine clinical practice and in clinical trials. The short versions of the questionnaire allow quick detection of the majority of patients with OHT or glaucoma at risk of dry eye.PMID:38385355 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231222939 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)
