Impact of weight reduction on structural and functional parameters of the optic nerve in idiopathic intracranial hypertension
CONCLUSION: Reduction in BMI had a significant impact on both structural and functional parameters of the optic nerve in IIH. The involvement of a well-certified dietician should be an integral part of treatment in IIH.PMID:38380874 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241232038 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Epibulbar simple cartilaginous choristoma associated with unique pigmented multicystic component
CONCLUSIONS: Our case of epibulbar simple cartilaginous choristoma includes a prominent superficial component of pigmented epithelial cysts, which has not been previously reported in the literature. This augments our knowledge on the spectrum of presentations of cartilaginous choristomas and underscores the importance of histopathological evaluation for definitive diagnosis.PMID:38380886 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241234706 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Repeatability of swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography automated macular vessel density
CONCLUSIONS: Our results proved excellent repeatability of automated vessel density measurements in the superficial and deep capillary plexus layers in our cohort using a OCTARA algorithm indicating that it may be a reliable diagnostic tool. It also showed good reliability in choriocapillary and mid choroid layer. These findings may be of value in assessing the significance of differences in capillary density measurements over time and across different settings.PMID:38374527 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241233620 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Effects of atropine eyedrops at ten different concentrations for myopia control in children: A systematic review on meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: 0.01% or higher concentration atropine eyedrops are effective for myopia control, while 0.0025% and 0.005% concentrations may not. As the concentration increases, the effect tends to increase, 1% concentration may have the strongest effect.PMID:38377951 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241229317 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Successful resolution of serous macular detachment following glaucoma-filtering surgery alone for acquired optic disc pit maculopathy
CONCLUSION: This case demonstrates that controlling intraocular pressure alone resulted in complete resolution of serous macular detachment in acquired optic disc pit maculopathy without the need for pars plana vitrectomy.PMID:38377952 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241234402 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Effects of full-thickness wedge resection on ocular surface and in vivo confocal microscopy findings in floppy eyelid syndrome patients
CONCLUSION: In our retrospective cohort, FTWR surgery was shown to be an effective and reliable surgical treatment for FES, improving both ocular surface and IVCM findings. Patients with moderate to severe stages of FES not responding to conservative treatment may benefit from eyelid tightening.PMID:38378008 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241233623 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Combined recession and resection of the same lateral Rectus in the treatment of exotropia
CONCLUSIONS: In our experience a majority of exotropias decrease under GA and our strategy of combined RRSM of the LR is effective for the treatment of such exotropias. Long-term follow-up of the cohort is required to investigate the stability of these outcomes, and confirmation of our results by other works.PMID:38361386 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241229318 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

The effect of leizumab on serum vascular endothelial growth factor, IL-6, MCP-1 inflammatory factors in neovascular glaucoma
This study aimed to assess Leizumab's effect on serum endothelial growth factor, interleukin-6 (IL-6), monocyte chemotactic protein-1 (MCP-1), and inflammatory factors in neovascular glaucoma patients. 80 eligible patients treated between January 2021 and April 2023 were enrolled, randomly divided into control and study groups. The control group underwent vitrectomy while the study group received preoperative intravitreal rituximab injection. Measurements included serum and aqueous humor VEGF/PEDF, IL-6/MCP-1 levels, postoperative rebleeding/retinal detachment, and visual acuity changes over 6 weeks. After surgery, patient...
