A new approach for single-haptic retropupillary iris-claw lens subluxation - The "fencing" technique
CONCLUSIONS: We highlight a new, quick, safe, and unusual surgical approach to single-haptic retropupillary iris-claw IOL dislocation in vitrectomized eyes. Because of its characteristics, we named it the "fencing" IOL repositioning technique.PMID:38115710 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231222792 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Dry eye in mind: Exploring the relationship between sleep and ocular surface diseases
CONCLUSIONS: Present work contributes to the understanding of the complex relationship between DED and insomnia by showing that in a large population of DED patients, the more severe the insomnia, the more severe the DED symptoms and signs.PMID:38111286 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231222063 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Profile of a large cohort of children with persistent fetal vasculature and their predictors of poor visual outcome in a tertiary eye hospital in Saudi Arabia
CONCLUSIONS: The prognosis of PFV varies depending on the severity of the disease. Patients with posterior PFV had worse visual outcome than anterior or combined type. Whether primary or secondary, IOL implantation increases the probability of having BCVA better than CF.PMID:38112344 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231220331 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Post-operative interventional radiotherapy (brachytherapy) in advanced ocular surface and eyelid tumors as an alternative to surgical retreatment
CONCLUSIONS: IRT can be considered an effective therapeutic option to avoid more invasive surgical retreatment in advanced tumors involving eyelids and ocular surface.PMID:38105586 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231215105 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Anophthalmic socket in retinoblastoma: Exploring complications and risk factors in a tertiary centre in Malaysia
CONCLUSIONS: Long-term post-enucleation complications were not uncommon. Luckily, most had good outcomes, with a few needing surgical intervention. Meticulous suturing technique on the Tenon and conjunctival layer is essential to prevent implant exposure.PMID:38105429 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231219530 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) towards glaucoma among new glaucoma patients and their first-degree relatives: A cross-sectional study in a tertiary eye care centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
CONCLUSION: Knowledge about glaucoma is still limited, and awareness programs need to be further activated to spread correct knowledge about the nature of glaucoma, the importance of compliance with treatment, the correct method of instilling eye drops, and the significance of screening at-risk individuals. Patient families should also be involved in educational programs.PMID:38099644 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231219300 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Boston Keratoprosthesis type 1 (KPro) without contact lens wearing in end-stage corneal disease: The APEC experience
CONCLUSIONS: We report the results of a retrospective cohort of twenty-three eyes (22 patients) who were implanted with a Boston type 1 KPro without contact lens wearing to treat corneal blindness. BSCVA improved significantly in most patients achieving 20/200 or better at the 2-year follow-up. Retention rate was 87%, with the presence of RPM as the most common complication.PMID:38099653 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231214076 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Effects of CSF1R/p-ERK1/2 signaling pathway on RF/6A cells under high glucose conditions
CONCLUSION: Overall, under high glucose, CSF1R and p-ERK1/2 were highly expressed, leading to reduced cellular activity, and CSF1R inhibition helped alleviate this effect.PMID:38099815 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231219717 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Clinical outcomes of stromal lenticule rotation to correct mixed astigmatism
CONCLUSIONS: The results for these five eyes suggest that the autologous stromal lenticule rotation technique is safe and effective; it may be an economical and feasible surgical option for correcting mixed astigmatism.PMID:38099818 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231221165 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Preloaded DMEK with endo-in technique: Standardizing and minimizing the learning curve over 5 years using 599 corneal tissues
CONCLUSION: DMEK graft preparation requires a learning curve. However, an operator with DMEK stripping skills can easily adapt to pre-loading a DMEK graft in endothelium-inwards fashion with minimal learning curve.PMID:38099841 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231217127 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)
