Novel compound heterozygous variants in < em > LTBP2 < /em > associated with relative anterior microphthalmos
CONCLUSION: To our knowledge, this is the first study to report novel LTBP2 gene variants related to RAM. Considering the importance of LTBP2 in ocular development, we provide initial insights into the potential pathogenic mechanisms of LTBP2 in RAM.PMID:38545692 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241240503 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Quantifying cardiac dysfunction and valvular heart disease associated with subretinal drusenoid deposits in age-related macular degeneration
CONCLUSIONS: Several specific VHDs have been found associated with the SDD form of AMD. Decreased systemic perfusion as measured by CI was also associated with SDDs, which supports a perfusion hypothesis of SDD pathogenesis. Further research is warranted to understand the relationship between cardiovascular disease and SDDs.PMID:38545630 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241244413 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Multimodal imaging of a case of retinal cavernous hemangioma
CONCLUSION: Different multimodal images are better for understanding the characteristics of RCH and more convenient for its diagnosis and follow-up.PMID:38532714 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241242511 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Glaucoma awareness, anxiety and its impact on patients undergoing visual field testing and optical coherence tomography
CONCLUSION: Anxiety levels induced by both diagnostic modalities HFA and OCT appear to be similar and it does not affect the reliability indices.Anxiety score was higher in female participants and participants lacking disease awareness.PMID:38533557 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241243105 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Scleral-fixated vs Iris-fixated intraocular lens in pediatric ectopia lentis: A systematic review
Eur J Ophthalmol. 2024 Mar 27:11206721241242158. doi: 10.1177/11206721241242158. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTNumerous intraocular lens (IOLs) options are available for treating pediatric ectopia lentis, and this paper reviews recent literature on pediatric ectopia lentis treatment with iris-fixated and scleral-fixated IOLs. A comprehensive search was undertaken on PubMed, Embase, ProQuest, Cochrane, Wiley, SCOPUS, and EBSCO. Studies published in the last ten years that met the inclusion criteria were included in this review. Seventeen studies exhibiting low to moderate risk of bias were included in this review, with eigh...

Novel pathogenic variants of SLC38A8 gene and literature review
CONCLUSION: Severe arrest of foveal development was identified in patients with variants of SLC38A8. This study provides a brief summary of the clinical and genetic characteristics of the pathogenic SLC38A8 variants, which is helpful in the differentiation diagnosis of FH.PMID:38515398 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241242155 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)
