Ethylation And Allylation Reactions of Pinostrobin from the Rhizome of Kaempferia pandurata
This research was designed to isolate pinostrobin fromKaempferia pandurata Roxb. rhizome using a chromatography method and to study its structural modification through ethylation and allylation reactions. Two compounds were afforded from the ethylation reaction that were 5-ethoxy-7-methoxyflavanone and 4 ′-ethoxy-6′-methoxychalcone and in the case of the allylation, 5-O-allylpinostrobin (5-allyloxy-7-methoxyflavanone) and 6-allylpinostrobin (6-allyl-5-hydroxy-7-methoxyflavanone) were obtained. Two New Isoquinolines from Cigar Tobacco-Derived Endophytic Fungi Aspergillus puniceus and Their Antibacterial Activity
With the aims of screening more antibacterial activity metabolites, in this study, two new (1 and2), together with five known (3 –7) isoquinolines were isolated from the cigar tobacco-derived endophytic fungiAspergillus puniceus. Their structures were determined by means of HR-ESI-MS and extensive 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic studies. The new compounds were evaluated for antibacterial activities againstPseudomonas syringae (the main pathogenic sources of tobacco angular leaf spot disease), and compounds1 and2 exhibited inhibitory effects with MIC50 values of 8.5 and 5.4 μg/mL respectively. These rates are lower than that...

Synthesis and Antimicrobial Activity of Phthalide Derivatives of Cytisine, Anabasine, and Salsoline
Aminophthalide derivatives of cytisine, anabasine, and salsoline were obtained in high yields via condensation of the alkaloids with o-formylbenzoic acid. Their structures were proven using1H and13C NMR spectroscopy and data from 2D COSY1H –1H and HMQC1H –13C spectra. Studies of their antimicrobial activity showed moderate antimicrobial activity of 3-(N-cytisin-1-yl)isobenzofuran-1(3H)-one and 3-(N-salsolin-1-yl)isobenzofuran-1(3H)-one against Gram-positive test strainStaphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 and Gram-negative test strainEscherichia coli ATCC 25922. Synthetic Transformations of Higher Terpenoids. 43. Synthesis and Cytotoxic Properties of New Lambertianic Acid Derivatives at the Carboxylic Group
Lambertianic acid was selectively transformed at the carboxylic group. Synthetic methods for natural labdanoids, i.e., lambertianic acid methyl ester and lambertianol, were proposed. NewN-containing diterpenoid derivatives with alkyl(aryl)amide, dialkylamide, hydrazide,N-hydroxycarbamoyl, and nitrile groups in the C-4 position of the labdane skeleton were synthesized via reactions of lambertianic acid chloride with aliphatic and aromatic amines, amino acids, hydrazine, and hydroxylamine. Compounds with higher cytotoxicity than lambertianic acid against MCF-7, HeLa, and HepG2 (MTT assay) human tumor cell lines were obtained...
