Synthesis and Cytotoxic Activity of the Conjugate of an Oxygenated Betulinic Acid Analog with the Delocalized Lipophilic Cationic Compound F16
A new lupane triterpenoid containing a 1α,2β,3β-triacetoxy-functionalized ring A was synthesized from betulinic acid. Its conjugate with the membrane-penetrating cationic compound F16 was prepared. The conjugate exhibited significantly more pronounced antitumor activity than betulinic acid (betulinic acid IC50 34.5 μM, conjugate IC50 6.3 μM) in studies of the cytotoxic activity against H1299 and A549 lung adenocarcinoma cells but did not show selectivity between tumor cells and noncancer murine embryonic fibroblasts (MEFs). Discovery of Ursolic Acid Derivatives as Inhibitors of Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase 1B
Here, a series of ursolic acid (UA) derivatives were identified as potential protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) enzyme inhibitors. All of the tested compounds showed potent PTP1B inhibitory activity (47.01 –67.89%). Compound2d (67.89%) exhibited the highest activity of all the synthesized compounds, which showed higher activity than observed for the positive control UA (51.13%). Molecular docking simulation and analysis suggested that compound2d has a good binding interaction with the active pocket. (Source: Chemistry of Natural Compounds)

A New Lindenane Sesquiterpenoid from the Roots of Chloranthus henryi
A new lindenane sesquiterpenoid, chlohenriol D (1), along with five known compounds (2 –6) was obtained from the roots ofChloranthus henryi. Structural elucidation for the new compound was characterized by spectroscopic analysis. Compound1 was further tested for its neuroprotective effects on H2O2-damaged PC12 cells.
