GSE260780 Single-Cell Atlas of a Rat Model of Vaginal Birth Injury induced Stress Urinary Incontinence
Contributor : Liangyu ZhaoSeries Type : Expression profiling by high throughput sequencingOrganism : Rattus norvegicusStress urinary incontinence (SUI) greatly affects the daily life of numerous women and is closely related to a history of vaginal delivery and aging. We used vaginal balloon dilation to simulate vaginal birth injury in young and middle-aged rats to produce a SUI animal model, and found that young rats restored urethral structure and function well, but not the middle-aged rats. To identify the characteristics of cellular and molecular changes in the urethral microenvironment during the repair process of SUI...

Uretrovaginal reflux as a cause of daytime intermitent urinary incontinency in a 14-year old girl
Urethrovaginal reflux (UVR) as a cause of daytime intermittent urinary incontinence (DUI) in girls is an extremely rare clinical phenomenon and rarely described in the literature. A small number of papers on UVR in pediatric age have been published in the PubMed database, some of which I present in the literature [1 –5]. As a contribution to this rare phenomenon, we present a case from our own clinical practice. (Source: European Journal of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Biology)

Effect of Pilates combined with pelvic floor muscle training on continence of post-prostatectomy incontinence in patients with different body mass index
CONCLUSIONS: Pelvic floor muscle training can affect the recovery of urinary continence in patients with different BMI. Maintaining a lower BMI can be beneficial for improving urinary control.TRIAL REGISTRATION: Date of trial registration: November 27, 2023.PMID:38549067 | DOI:10.1186/s12894-024-01451-6 (Source: Cancer Control)

Effectiveness of web-based interventions for women with urinary incontinence: protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials
Introduction Urinary incontinence (UI) is one of the most common chronic diseases among women, which can endanger their physical and mental health and incur a heavy financial burden on both individuals and society. Web-based interventions (WBIs) have been applied to manage women’s UI, but their effectiveness has remained inconclusive. This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to explore the effectiveness of WBIs on self-reported symptom severity, condition-specific quality of life, adherence to pelvic floor muscle training (primary outcomes) and other extensive secondary outcomes among women with UI. We also aime...

Comparison of the Efficiency of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation and Manual Therapy in Children with Cerebral Palsy with Lower Urinary System Dysfunction- A Randomized Prospective Trial
Neurological defects in children with cerebral palsy (CP) not only affect their motor skills but also lead to bladder and bowel problems. Although most children with CP have achieved urinary control, more than 50% of cases experience lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). Common LUTS complaints observed in CP include delayed toilet training, urinary incontinence, increased frequency of urination, urgency, urinary hesitancy, and recurrent urinary tract infections. Active Compared With Passive Voiding Trials After Midurethral Sling Surgery: A Systematic Review
CONCLUSION: Passive trial of void had higher passing rates and lower discharge with catheter than active trial of void. Rates of most complications were low and similar between both groups, although passive trial of void had higher sling revisions.SYSTEMATIC REVIEW REGISTRATION: PROSPERO, CRD42022341318.PMID:38547487 | DOI:10.1097/AOG.0000000000005567 (Source: Obstetrics and Gynecology)

Sacral Neuromodulation: Device Improvement and Current Applications in Urology

The exact mechanism of action of SNM is not fully understood but modulation of the spinal cord reflexes and brain networks by peripheral afferents is regarded as the main pathway. Over the years, surgical techniques improved, leading to the devel...
