Current perspectives of sudden cardiac death management in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
In this study, we review the latest findings regarding pathogenesis, risk stratification, and prevention of SCD in HCM patients, highlighting the clinic practice of cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging for SCD management. (Source: Heart Failure Reviews)

Is There a Role for Alcohol Septal Ablation in Young Patients with Medically Refractory Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy?
AbstractSurgical myectomy is recommended for symptomatic hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM) after optimal pharmacological therapy. Percutaneous transluminal septal myocardial ablation (PTSMA) is reserved for high-risk adults. Symptomatic patients below 25  years underwent either surgery or PTSMA after heart-team discussion and informed consent. Echocardiography assessed gradients in surgical group. PTSMA group underwent invasive transseptal hemodynamic assessment, selective coronary angiography and super-selective cannulation of septal perforators u sing microcatheters. Contrast echocardiography through the mi...

Generation of induced pluripotent stem cell lines from two unrelated individuals with familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy carrying MYBPC3 nonsense mutations
Stem Cell Res. 2024 Feb 24;76:103362. doi: 10.1016/j.scr.2024.103362. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTFamilial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) stands as a predominant heart condition, characterised by left ventricle hypertrophy in the absence of any associated loading conditions, with affected individuals having an increased risk of developing heart failure and sudden cardiac death (SCD). Two induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) lines were derived from peripheral blood mononuclear cells obtained from two unrelated individuals with previously reported nonsense mutations in the MYBPC3 gene. The first individual is a 48-year-...

Mitral regurgitation mechanisms related to systolic anterior motion in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
CONCLUSIONS: Our preliminary data suggested that chordal cutting with septal myectomy was associated with an improvement in the tenting area, contributing to MR severity. This procedure may serve as an effective therapy for patients with SAM and significant MR.PMID:38410607 | PMC:PMC10894419 | DOI:10.21037/jtd-23-1206 (Source: Journal of Thoracic Disease)
