Viruses, Vol. 14, Pages 1657: Detection of Nipah and Hendra Viruses Using Recombinant Human Ephrin B2 Capture Virus in Immunoassays
In this study, the henipavirus receptor ephrin B2 was examined to determine whether it could be used as a universal ligand for henipavirus detection in immunoassays. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) were developed using recombinant ephrin B2 as the capture ligand and two monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) as detection reagents. Using mAb F27NiV-34, which cross-reacts with NiV and HeV, we were able to detect NiV and HeV, while mAb F20NiV-65 was used to detect NiV. Therefore, using these two ELISAs, we were able to differentiate between NiV and HeV. Furthermore, we developed a rapid lateral flow strip test for NiV detec...

A Case Report: Clinical Efficacy of Combination Treatment of Dexamethasone and Azathioprine in Recurrent Erythema Multiforme
We reported a case of REM in a 49-year-old male. There were complaints of burning sensations on the skin lesions, along with swelling on both hands. On physical examination, erythematous macules and targetoid lesions were found on both palms, arms, and legs. During hospitalization, dexamethasone 20 mg was administered in a tapering dose but new skin lesions still appeared. Two days after azathioprine 50 mg twice daily was added to the treatment, skin lesions and swelling on the patient's hands were diminished and the burning sensation disappeared. No side effects of azathioprine were found in this patient and no recurrence...

Melatonin and Sleep Disturbances in Children With Atopic Dermatitis
CONCLUSION: Children with moderate AD have impaired sleep quality and lower melatonin levels compared to controls. No correlation was found between melatonin levels and CSHQ, as well as melatonin levels and SCORAD, although there was a strong and significant correlation between SCORAD and CSHQ. Therefore, melatonin levels may not be the main cause of sleep disturbances in children with moderate AD.PMID:35784269 | PMC:PMC9249347 | DOI:10.2147/CCID.S366854 (Source: Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology)

Malassezia virulence factors and their role in dermatological disorders
Acta Dermatovenerol Alp Pannonica Adriat. 2022 Jun;31(2):65-70.ABSTRACTMalassezia is a commensal fungus that constitutes normal skin microbiota. However, in certain conditions and individuals, it may transform into a pathogenic yeast with multiple associated dermatological disorders and various clinical manifestations. This phenomenon is influenced by a unique host-agent interaction that triggers the production of several virulence factors, such as indoles, reactive oxygen species, azelaic acid, hyphae formation, and biofilm formation. This review article discusses Malassezia virulence factors that contribute to the transf...
