You only ECHO Twice
We report on an 80-year-old woman with a cerebral stroke. Successful thrombectomy revealed a histopathologically confirmed papillary fibroelastoma as the embolic source. Although it was not detectable on initial echocardiography, the tumour was discovered by transesophageal echocardiography. This case emphasises the importance of considering primary cardiac tumours as potential sources of emboli in ischaemic stroke. Keywords.PMID:38655734 (Source: Praxis)

Minimally-Invasive Approach in the Setting of a Malignant Primary Cardiac Tumor
Thorac Cardiovasc Surg Rep 2024; 13: e16-e19 DOI: 10.1055/a-2298-0497A 71-year-old man with dilated cardiomyopathy without clinical complaints revealed a suspicious finding in checkup. After a multimodality cardiac imaging, the suspicion of a malignant primary cardiac tumor in the left ventricle was substantiated and the patient underwent minimally-invasive cardiac surgery for tumor resection. Postoperative chemotherapy with multiple cycles of liposomal doxorubicin was established and supported by proton beam radiotherapy. Two-year follow-up revealed no disease recurrence. Myocardial metastasis from ZEB1- and TWIST-positive spindle cell carcinoma of the esophagus: A case report
CONCLUSION: To the best of our knowledge, there have been no prior reports of cardiac metastasis of esophageal SCC. This case highlights our experience with a patient with esophageal SCC who progressed rapidly and died from the disease, with the autopsy examination showing cardiac metastasis.PMID:38617457 | PMC:PMC11008411 | DOI:10.3748/wjg.v30.i11.1636 (Source: World Journal of Gastroenterology : WJG)

Severe bradycardia at acute medical take - Think about myxoedema coma
We report two cases of myxoedema coma that presented to the acute medical take with severe bradycardia. These patients were initially misdiagnosed as bradyarrhythmia of primary cardiac origin. They were then diverted to the cardiology service at another district general hospital (DGH) for admissions. Both cases were subsequently diagnosed with myxoedema coma having screened thyroid function tests on arrival at the cardiology unit. Despite being treated for myxoedema coma, both patients unfortunately succumbed to the disease and later died in the hospital. These cases highlight that clinical suspicion and recognition of myx...
