"Discuss a time you failed" help
So I've been stuck on this question for a while and wanted to get some input. Right now I got two different failures that have come to mind: 1. Started trading stocks, lost 45% of my money, regained over the next year. Went through a lot of stress over that time. lol 2. Tried starting an iPhone LCD screen repair company in my garage. After many failures (20+) I sold all equipment. Wondering which situation would be better. Maybe you think both seem awful... I'd love some input. If you... Finding "the best" hernia repair surgeon
Background: I have a family friend with large bilateral inguinal hernias. His father suffered a similar predicament and ended up with 5 hernia repairs before ending up dying from CRC with a recurrent hernia on one side. In short, his father suffered extensively from his hernias despite going to what I would consider well trained, high volume surgeons in a major city. He has a brother with a history of hernias as well. My family friend has considerable wealth, resources and resolve... Finding "the best" hernia repair surgeon (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Non-trads, how are you doing it?!
Just need a positive place to share thoughts and hear about the obstacles others are having to overcome (and how they're dealing with them) in this grueling process of GPA repair. I work 40+ hours/week as a tech support lead at a well-known cable/internet company (Friday-Monday). I am in school full-time, busting my a** trying to complete this DIY post-bacc - while maintaining a 3.7 (barely). I am doing Alzheimer's research on Tues. and Wed. while also volunteering for the Alzheimer's... Non-trads, how are you doing it?! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Life as a vascular surgeon
Hi all, If anyone has any details, I'd be interested in learning about what the life of a vascular surgeon is like. Other than aortic aneurysm repair, are there any procedures that offer as much excitement? As a rotating 3rd year, you hear rumors about each specialty and the one associated with vascular is that the procedures are generally very boring. Was hoping someone can shed light on this! Car Payments During OD School
I'm applying this summer, so OD school is about a year-and-a-half away. My current car is an 03 Volkswagen Passat, with 187k miles and needs some minor repairs that add up to $1500. Even if I repair it, I'm not sure that it will last another two or three years afterwards. I'm considering getting a used car to replace it. Right now, I use the car for work and commute about a half hour each day. I don't have any money saved, so I would have to get a loan to buy a replacement car. If I got a... GPA Repair Advice (Recent PreMed/NonTrad)
So I graduated in December 2015 from a University of California with a B.S. in Exercise Biology. Admittedly, I didn't have much of a direction and perhaps wasn't as motivated in regards to academics as I should have been. I finished with a cumulative uGPA of 3.32 and I estimate my sGPA to be very similar (maybe a hair lower). I have come to recent realization that going to Medical School is something that I want to pursue and am very much looking forward to the next 1-2 years to build a... 3.4 cGPA, 3.3 sGPA, 502 MCAT, Masters/GPA repair advice
Hey everyone, So I am seeking some advice for different masters programs so I can repair my GPA/MCAT and get into an MD school. I have been accepted to like 10 high ranking MPH programs (I know these aren't for boosting a GPA, I just like public health and would like to get an MPH in the future), a Masters of Health Sciences program at Johns Hopkins for either Mental Health (mostly public health/neuro courses), another MHS at JHU for molecular microbiology and immunology (mostly sciences... 3.4 cGPA, 3.3 sGPA, 502 MCAT, Masters/GPA repair advice (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What is the best path for me? Prefer DO
Hey everyone, Once I accepted that I need to do serious GPA repair before I can apply, I've been searching and reading lots of threads however I haven't found something that matches my situation closely especially since grade replacement is gone. I have a 3.37 cGPA, 2.9 sGPA. Haven't taken the MCAT yet but am aiming for 510+. Solid ECs. I don't want to say I don't care about going MD, but I am really okay, and might even prefer DO schools as I love the MSK system and my dream is to do... What is the best path for me? Car in Medical School
I've searched the forums a bit for prior conversations about this topic, but they primarily concern single med students and have different circumstances. So, my wife's car is pretty old and falling apart, and I believe it is time for an update. We can save about 3K for a down payment, and can handle about 250ish/mth as a payment. I worry that if we wait too long, then there will be a repair that costs more than the down payment would (i.e. transmission, etc.). I've considered 1-2 year old...
