WAMC non-trad, transcript repair
Hi guys, I'll try to keep this short. Posted previously about a year ago. School: Pitt Major: Neuroscience I enrolled in 2 semesters at a university back in the fall of 2016 and spring of 2017. I was going through some pretty major issues at home. My first semester I had a 2.7. The next semester I left campus a week after the semester began and did not withdrawal from my classes so I failed my 4 classes. My school denied a request for a retroactive withdrawal but I plan to keep trying... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

low gpa options
i have a 2.8 undergrad gpa and wanted to know what's the best way to repair my gpa to be competitive for D.O schools? I also have around 6Ws on my transcripts (600 hrs of ER volunteer hours ) a couple of pre-med clubs and haven't taken the mcat yet. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

One C during transcript repair - How big of a deal is this?
I got a C in Organic Chemistry the summer I got COVID (Summer 2022). It was an 8-week course and I was sick for a full two weeks, so that definitely made a dent. (You had to be afebrile for 72 hours to be permitted on campus and that fever would not budge for two weeks.) The issue with this is that I was working on transcript repair after getting a boatload of W's due to unrelated, now-resolved health problems. The past 1.5 years look great other than that one, ugly C! I took one other... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How may more post-bacc credits will I need given my trend?
I'm currently in the middle of a post bacc for gpa repair, aiming to end at the end of fall semester 2023. Prior to my post bacc, my grades + trend were: cGPA: 3.28 sGPA: 3.140 (this might be higher depending on if 12 credits are classified as BCPM, but here I'm assuming they're not) YearCreditscGPA sGPAdual enrollment162.832.83freshman29.52.912.83 (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How dumb would it be to have surgery before Step 1 and surgery rotations
I have a partial tricep tear that needs to be repaired. It is scheduled for 6/19, with my Step 1 scheduled for 6/22, and surgery rotation scheduled for 7/3. I figure I'll be out of my brace by 7/3, and the surgery itself won't take that long so I'll really only lose 1 day. I figure the post-surgery pain will be gone by 6/22, considering I felt pretty much back to normal after a surgery 2 years ago within about a day or 2. For anyone who has had a triceps repair surgery, how dumb would this... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Admissions member at state school said to quit research job and do full-time masters?
Graduated last May, currently working as an RA at Harvard while working on the MCAT and taking classes after as I graduated with a 2.9 gpa. I recently got the chance to call an admissions member at my state school who suggested that I quit my research job and emphasized doing a full-time masters. This goes against what my undergrad advisor (not an admissions member) said, who encouraged me to take this job while I do transcript repair. I'm confused on who to listen to, any advice? Pelvic exams and cancer
So on the big Physcian community Facebook group there was a thread topic saying that ED/PCPs do not do as many pelvics as one OBGYN would like. They all list cancer as why pelvics should be done. There were a few posts saying it was malpractice for missing cancer. But when I do my pelvics and the cervix looks nonuniform I just tell them to go to OBGYN. Even if it is a necrotic mass Gyn says they should still follow up in the office. I see for foriegn body removal or lac repair (calling... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Transcript repair situation and my final semester
I am doing transcript repair. I had a ton of withdrawals, the most recent of which occurred in Fall 2021. The health issue that caused them has been corrected. I am in my final semester. I could just take what I need to graduate and get out, which would be a science class and a language class. I can take the language class at CC and that's what I want to do for financial and continuity reasons. (The breaks between the language levels aren't identical between the two schools. I have been... DIY Courseload and Cancer treatment
Happy 2023 everyone! Last year, I started my post-bacc journey (DIY GPA repair) right after the military. 2 months in, I was hit with cancer and have been undergoing treatment since February 2022. Spring 2022: I completed 2 upper-div science courses (6 units), receiving As with difficulty because of the cancer. My treatment may be complete in 2 months and now is the time to start again. However, I am still dealing with treatment into February and have part-time overseas military duties to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Achilles rupture during TAL
Hey all, I've asked a few people regarding this and I wanted to get some thoughts. Say you are doing a flatfoot reconstruction and also doing a tendo achilles lengthening. If you accidentally rupture the tendon, are you typically repairing it? I've seen it happen a few times in residency and it was never repaired, but I've spoken to a few other docs I really respect saying in an otherwise healthy individual you typically should repair it. However, it's going to be a nightmare to flip a... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
