Long-Term Survival after Primary Ewing's Sarcoma of the Skull with Intracranial Extension
Conclusion The presented case is the longest surviving patient after treatment of primary Ewing's sarcoma of the skull bone. This rare type of tumor may allow better survival rates under adequate management than sarcoma elsewhere in the body. The value of GLI1 and p16 immunohistochemistry in the premolecular screening for GLI1-altered mesenchymal neoplasms
In conclusion, we confirm that GLI1 IHC represents a good, quick, and cheap helpful screening tool. The inclusion of p16 may aid in pre-screening for potentialGLI1-amplified neoplasms and provide insights on which tumors warrant further molecular testing. (Source: Virchows Archiv)

The expression of neuraminidase-1 in Ewing sarcoma and its impact on sarcoma cell proliferation and migration
Conclusion: NEU1 may be a prognostic factor in ES, and its abnormal expression in ES can affect the proliferation and migration ability of the ES cells, leading to poor prognosis in ES patients.PMID:37926573 | DOI:10.3760/cma.j.cn112137-20230411-00580 (Source: Cancer Control)

Detection of early prognostic biomarkers for metastasis of Ewing's sarcoma in pediatric patients
This study presented potential empirical predictive circulating biomarkers for determining the disease status of pediatric Ewing's sarcoma, which is vital for early prediction.PMID:37926299 | DOI:10.1016/j.lfs.2023.122237 (Source: Cancer Control)

Cancers, Vol. 15, Pages 5225: Carbonic Anhydrase Inhibitors Induce Ferroptosis through Inhibition of AKT/FTH1 Signaling in Ewing Sarcoma Tumor Cells
roeder Ilya V. Ulasov Ewing sarcoma (ES) is one of the most frequent types of malignant tumors among children. The active metabolic state of ES cells presents a new potential target for therapeutic interventions. As a primary regulator of cellular homeostasis, carbonic anhydrases (CAs; EC 4.2.1.1) have emerged as promising molecular targets for the development of anticancer drugs. Within the present study, we tested the commercial drug acetazolamide and our previously discovered inhibitors to target the CAII isoform, which was overexpressed and positively correlated with ES patient relapse. We employed molecular biol...

Inducing Mitotic Catastrophe as a Therapeutic Approach to Improve Outcomes in Ewing Sarcoma
Cancers (Basel). 2023 Oct 10;15(20):4911. doi: 10.3390/cancers15204911.ABSTRACTEwing sarcoma (EWS) is an aggressive pediatric malignancy of the bone and soft tissues in need of novel therapeutic options. To identify potential therapeutic targets, we focused on essential biological pathways that are upregulated by EWS-FLI1, the primary oncogenic driver of EWS, including mitotic proteins such as Aurora kinase A (AURKA) and kinesin family member 15 (KIF15) and its binding partner, targeting protein for Xklp2 (TPX2). KIF15/TPX2 cooperates with KIF11, a key mitotic kinesin essential for mitotic spindle orientation. Given the la...

Does primary tumor resection improve survival for patients with sarcomas of pelvic bones, sacrum, and coccyx who have metastasis at diagnosis ?
ConclusionPrimary lesion resection may provide a survival benefit for metastatic chondrosarcoma, but not for osteosarcoma and Ewing sarcoma of pelvic bones, sacrum, and coccyx. This population-based study recommends an active surgical intervention for metastatic chondrosarcoma while non-surgical treatment for metastatic osteosarcoma and Ewing sarcoma of the pelvis in terms of survival improvement.
