Disparities in incidence and survival for patients with Ewing sarcoma in Florida
ConclusionsFlorida Hispanic males have a higher-than-expected incidence of osseous ES compared to the US. Hispanics of both sexes show remarkably worse survival for nonmetastatic disease compared to NHW. This disparity is likely multifactorial and requires further in-depth studies. Metastatic cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma accounts for nearly all squamous cell carcinomas of the parotid gland
AbstractPrimary squamous cell carcinoma of the parotid gland (pSCCP) has long been recognized as a separate entity and is included in the WHO classifications of salivary gland tumors. However, it is widely accepted among head and neck pathologists that pSCCP is exceptionally rare. Yet, there are many publications describing series of pSCCP and data from SEER and other cancer register databases indicate erroneously an increasing incidence of pSCCP. Importantly, pSCCP and metastatic (secondary) squamous cell carcinoma to the parotid gland (mSCCP) have nearly identical histological features, and the diagnosis of pSCCP should ...

Primary intradural Extraosseous Ewing's sarcoma of the cauda equina: a Case Report and Literature Review
We report a case of a 66-year-old male who presented with a 2-month history of low back pain and bilateral S1 sciatica, with acute sphincter dysfunction. Imaging studies revealed an intradural extramedullary lesion in the cauda equina spanning from level L4 to S1. The patient underwent partial removal of the intradural lesion. Histopathological examination showed the presence of small round cells, which were consistent with Ewing Sarcoma. The patient was then treated with targeted radiation therapy and chemotherapy. The rarity of IEES in this specific location underscores the significance of evaluating and managing patient...

Comprehensive radiotherapy for pediatric Ewing Sarcoma: Outcomes of a prospective proton study
CONCLUSION: In conclusion, LC for pediatric patients with EWS treated with PRT was comparable to that of historical patients who received photon-RT. Tumor size ≥ 8 cm predicted increased risk of local failure. Patients with metastatic disease, including non-pulmonary only metastases, received radiation therapy to all metastatic sites and had favorable survival outcomes.PMID:38583721 | DOI:10.1016/j.radonc.2024.110270 (Source: Cancer Control)

Comprehensive radiotherapy for pediatric Ewing Sarcoma: Outcomes of a prospective proton study
Patients with Ewing sarcoma (EWS) are treated with combination therapy, which includes radiation therapy (RT) as a treatment option for the primary tumor site (local control). Historically, the best local control (LC) outcomes have been achieved with surgery alone or combination of surgery with adjuvant RT for patients with high risk factors such as positive tumor margins after surgery or poor response to adjuvant/ induction chemotherapy. Definitive RT is often reserved for large tumors in anatomical locations where surgical resection is considered to be too morbid [1 –3]. (Source: Radiotherapy and Oncology)
