Obesity Medicine CME
Hello, I'm looking into getting board certified in obesity medicine (ABIM certified and currently in endocrinology fellowship). I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with the CME pathway options and if anyone can give feedback or recommendations? Also, any advice on how to prep for the exam and how long the typical prep time is? Thank you so much. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Questions about Endocrinology and Rheumatology Work-Life, Job Outlook, etc.?
I'm a PGY1 interested in both endocrinology and rheumatology. Since I'm nearing the end of my intern year, I am thinking more seriously about what I really want to do so I can focus on research in the fellowship I am more interested in. If possible, I would appreciate any advice and answers from endocrinologist and rheumatologist fellows/attendings in helping me to figure out where I fit better. I guess I can separate them out for ease: Endocrinology In medical school, the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What is an opthalmologist's take on an internist doing a funduscopic examination?
Hello. I am a part time nephrologist / Internist who sees a large number of hypertensive and diabetic patients. Although I do send these patients to opthalmology for a formal dilated retinal exam (which is part of the diabetes management anyway), I do have a PanOptic ophthalmoscope which I fiddle around with now and then for someone who is having uncontrolled BP for an undilated exam. It's not where near as good as those retinal photographs in the textbooks, of course. But I have gleaned... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Preoperative considerations of new long-acting glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists in diabetes mellitus
I've seen something about these drugs maybe replacing metformin as firstline treatment for DM2.
