Seeking advice for undergrad and med school journey
Hi! So I recently realized I would like to pursue a career in Reproductive Endocrinology. I've actually always had interest in family planning, woman's health and hormonal changes and I myself have been diagnosed with PCOS. I'd like advice on the best route to achieving that goal. I.E. what should I study, which programs should I look for interning opportunities, what routes would I take in residency to stay relevant to the field I'm interested in? Reliability of Compounding Pharmacies
The chief of Endocrinology at my state university medical school has stated he will not send Rxs to any compounding pharmacies because of their alleged substandard dosages for meds. If a patients needs an Rx, he requires that all be “FDA approved products” (i.e. not compounded) and dispensed at “regular retail pharmacies” (no compounding pharmacies). While Urologists, Dermatologists, OB/GYN and HIV physicians will utilize these compounding pharmacies for various injectables, creams and PO... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Endocrine fellowship chances... new mom
Hi.. I am currently a PGY 2 Medical Resident who is pregnant and due to deliver in June 2021. I would be likely taking a 4 week maternity leave, and during the pregnancy had a 4 week break due to medical issues. What would be the best advice on applying for the 2022- endocrinology fellowship intake considering that I would have an extension of residency by at least 8 weeks ? Is it even realistically possible for programs to offer and make changes in schedule even if there is a delay in... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

SAHM to MD?
I'm a VERY non-traditional applicant with a B.S in biomedical engineering from Duke University (1996) and 20 years away from work outside my home. My husband and 2 siblings are physicians so I know that I've got a long, hard road ahead but at the age of 48 I feel ready to tackle it. I have raised 3 children (now ages 19, 18 and 16) one of whom has multiple medical and mental health challenges including type 1 diabetes since age 2 and feel this gives me a unique perspective. I am well... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How 'good' can endocrinology be lifestyle and salary wise vs general IM?
Hi all, just wondering how 'good' can the Endocrinology specialty get lifestyle and salary wise vs general IM? Lets say working in the NE like in NYC or in surrounding areas. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Guidance towards Steo 1 progression
Hello everybody, I am a MS2, non US IMG, currently studying for step 1. I plan on taking the exam on January. My plan is BnB with FA and Uworld, and also sketchy. As of right now, I am currently on the endocrinology section. Should I aim to buy Uworld once I do my first pass of the First Aid? (Planning to buy a 1 year subscription, or maybe 6 months) How many passes of FA is good? Also, I recently got my score 1 month ago of an AMBOSS self assessment, which was 179 (dont know if it is good... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
