The Registrar Clinical Encounters in Training (ReCEnT) cohort study: updated protocol
DISCUSSION: Strengths of the study are the granular detail of clinical practice relating to patient demographics, presenting problems/diagnoses, medication decisions, investigations requested, referrals made, procedures undertaken, follow-up arranged, learning goals generated, and in-consultation help sought; the linking of the above variables to the presenting problems/diagnoses to which they pertain; and a very high response rate. The study is limited by not having information regarding severity of illness, medical history of the patient, full medication regimens, or patient compliance to clinical decisions made at the c...

Geographical Origin Determination of Cigar at Different Spatial Scales Based on C and N Metabolites and Mineral Elements Combined with Chemometric Analysis
Biol Trace Elem Res. 2022 Nov 28. doi: 10.1007/s12011-022-03499-7. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn this paper, five C and N metabolites and eighteen mineral elements were used to identify the cigar's geographical origin on a country scale (Dominica, Indonesia, and China) and on a prefecture scale (Yuxi, Puer, and Lincang in China). The results show that the best origin traceability method is the combination of C and N metabolites and mineral elements method. Its. Its accuracy of cross-validation can achieve 95% on a country scale and 94% on a prefecture scale. Determination accuracy is ranked as identification by combinat...

Insecticidal properties of etofenprox for the control of Ephestia kuehniella, Rhyzopertha dominica, Sitophilus oryzae, and Tribolium confusum on stored barley, maize, oats, rice, and wheat
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2022 Jul 2. doi: 10.1007/s11356-022-21342-3. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTEtofenprox is a novel pyrethroid insecticide that targets the nervous system of insects by affecting the function of the sodium channel. The current study examines the insecticidal activity of etofenprox against Ephestia kuehniella (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) larvae, Rhyzopertha dominica (Coleoptera: Bostrychidae) adults, Sitophilus oryzae (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) adults, and Tribolium confusum (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) adults and larvae on different grain commodities. For this purpose, etofenprox was applied on barley,...

Higher rates but similar causes of young out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in rural Australian patients
CONCLUSION: Higher rates of OHCA occur in young rural patients, with standardised incidence ratio of 168 compared to young metropolitan residents. Rural status did not influence causes of cardiac arrest or known cardiovascular risk factor burden in young patients experiencing OHCA.PMID:35704685 | DOI:10.1111/ajr.12890 (Source: The Australian Journal of Rural Health)

Analysis of Microbial Community, Volatile Flavor Compounds, and Flavor of Cigar Tobacco Leaves From Different Regions
This study aimed to characterize the microbial community, volatile flavor compounds (VFCs), and flavor of CTLs from four famous cigar-producing areas, including Dominica, Brazil, Indonesia, and China. High-throughput sequencing results showed that the dominant genera in CTLs were Staphylococcus, Pseudomonas, Aspergillus, Sampaiozyma, and Alternaria. Sensory analysis revealed that Indonesian and Chinese CTLs were characterized by leathery, peppery, and baked aroma. Brazilian CTLs were dominated by caramel and herb aroma. Dominican CTLs had aromas of milk, fruity, sour, cream, flower, nutty, and honey. Supplemented with the ...

Prevalence of Coronary Artery Anomalies in Young and Middle-Aged Sudden Cardiac Death Victims (from a Prospective State-Wide Registry)
Coronary artery anomalies (CAAs) have been previously implicated as a major cause of young sudden cardiac death (SCD), particularly in exercise-related SCD, with a prevalence of up to 33%. A state-wide prospective out-of-hospital cardiac arrest registry identified all patients aged 1 to 50  years who experienced an SCD and underwent autopsy from April 2019 to April 2021. Rates of normal anatomy, normal variants, and CAAs were identified, and circumstances and causes of death for patients with CAAs examined. (Source: The American Journal of Cardiology)

Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA gluten-free (GF) food guide for children and youth (4-18 years) living with celiac disease (CD) has been developed and extensively evaluated by stakeholders, including registered dietitians. A case study analysis was conducted on data from 16 households of youth with CD to examine how factors related to parental food literacy, the home food environment, and food purchasing patterns may influence food guide uptake by Canadian youth with CD and their families. Households were of higher socioeconomic status, parents had good foo...
