Effect of backing films on the transdermal delivery of cyclobenzaprine patch
Publication date: Available online 4 August 2016 Source:Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences Author(s): Siji Lv, Peng Quan, Xiaochang Liu, Liang Fang To investigate the effect of backing films on transdermal delivery of cyclobenzaprine patch. Different backing films were chosen to prepare cyclobenzaprine transdermal patch. The cumulative amount of cyclobenzaprine released from different patches was evaluated in vitro. To investigate the interaction between cyclobenzaprine and backing films, the partitioning experiments and attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy were perfor...

Two steps modification for improvement of cyclobenzaprine transdermal delivery: releasing from patch and penetrating through skin.
Authors: Lv S, Quan P, Wang W, Fang L Abstract The aim of this study was to improve the transdermal delivery of cyclobenzaprine (CBZ) from drug-in-adhesive patch which showed less side effects and better compliance. CBZ base was prepared and then characterized using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The interaction between CBZ and pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) was determined by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR). The influences of PSAs, penetration enhancers, patch thickness and drug content on the transdermal delivery of CBZ were studied thoroughly in vitro. Both CBZ releasing from...

Drug –Drug Interactions Between the Anti-Hepatitis C Virus 3D Regimen of Ombitasvir, Paritaprevir/Ritonavir, and Dasabuvir and Eight Commonly Used Medications in Healthy Volunteers
Conclusions < /h3 > < p class= " a-plus-plus " > Acetaminophen, metformin, sulfamethoxazole, and trimethoprim can be coadministered with the 3D regimen without dose adjustment. Higher doses may be needed for diazepam, cyclobenzaprine, and carisoprodol based on clinical monitoring. A 50  % lower dose and/or clinical monitoring should be considered for hydrocodone. No dose adjustment is necessary for the 3D regimen. < /p > < /span > (Source: Clinical Pharmacokinetics)

A validated inherent stability indicating HPTLC method for estimation of cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride in tablets and use of MS–QTOF in characterization of its alkaline stress degradation product
Publication date: Available online 20 May 2016 Source:Bulletin of Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University Author(s): Minal T. Harde, Sagar B. W.hede, Praveen D. Chaudhari A simple, selective and sensitive stability indicating high-performance thin-layer chromatographic method was developed and validated for estimation of cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride (CBP) in bulk drug and commercial tablets according to ICH guidelines. A precoated silica gel 60F254 HPTLC plates were used for chromatographic separation using mobile phase toluene: ethyl acetate: methanol: glacial acetic acid in the ratio 4:2:3.5:0.5 v/v/v/v. Top 20 Research Studies of 2015 for Primary Care Physicians.
This article, the fifth installment in this annual series, summarizes the 20 POEMs based on original research studies judged to have the greatest clinical relevance for family physicians. Key recommendations include questioning the need for backup throat cultures; avoiding early imaging and not adding cyclobenzaprine or oxycodone to naproxen for patients with acute low back pain; and encouraging patients with chronic or recurrent low back pain to walk. Other studies showed that using a nicotine patch for more than eight weeks has little benefit; that exercise can prevent falls that cause injury in at-risk older women; and ...

Effect of Potentially Inappropriate Use of Antimuscarinic Medications on Healthcare Use and Cost in Individuals with Overactive Bladder
ConclusionPotentially inappropriate medication use was highly prevalent and was associated with greater total healthcare costs. Providers should carefully consider medical history and concurrent medication use when initiating antimuscarinic medication for the treatment of OAB. Development of interventions to reduce potentially inappropriate use of antimuscarinics in individuals with OAB is warranted. (Source: Journal of the American Geriatrics Society)

Treatment Initiation Timing and Healthcare Costs in Newly Diagnosed Patients with Fibromyalgia (P6.276)
Conclusions:Total healthcare costs were significantly lower among early initiation patients, suggesting early use as a potential cost-saving strategy. FM patients had substantial comorbidity and most did not receive ACR recommended medications. Study Supported by: Daiichi Sankyo, Inc.Disclosure: Dr. Frech-Tamas has nothing to disclose.
