Photodynamic Therapy in Treating a Subset of Basal Cell Carcinoma: Strengths, Shortcomings, Comparisons with Surgical Modalities, and Potential Role as Adjunctive Therapy
We present a review of the efficacy of these modalities and describe important considerations that affect the usage of PDT and MMS. ALA-PDT and MAL-PDT are both efficacious treatment options for lower-risk BCC that can serve as non-invasive alternatives to surgical excision with favorable cosmetic outcomes in patients unsuitable to undergo surgery. In particular, PDT may be considered an adjuvant for the prevention and treatment of BCC lesions in patients with some genetic syndromes such as Gorlin syndrome, and in combination with surgical excision in lesions presenting in certain locations. Limitations to PDT include lack...

Lasers for the treatment of eyebrow microblading and cosmetic tattoo pigment: a review of the literature
We report laser energy, spot size, and pulse duration, as well as treatment outcomes and adverse events. Historically, methods of pigment removal included dermabrasion, cryosurgery, electrosurgery, radiofrequency, infrared light, intense pulsed light, and surgical excision; however, these methods often led to poor cosmetic outcomes including scarring and further dyspigmentation. QS laser treatments provided superior cosmetic outcomes and thus were considered the gold standard treatment option for pigment removal. However, the advent of PS lasers has challenged this given their increased selectivity, lower fluence requireme...

Interventions for treating umbilical granuloma: a protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials
Introduction The most frequent umbilical abnormality in infancy period is umbilical granuloma. Although umbilical granuloma treatment with silver nitrate is practised worldwide, silver nitrate cauterisation is high in cost and if silver nitrate comes into contact with healthy tissues, it might cause injury. This systematic review aims to look for evidence concerning the safety and efficacy of all interventions for treating umbilical granuloma in neonates. Methods and analysis Individual and cluster randomised controlled trials will be included in our study. The direct comparisons between two of any interventions for treat...

Molluscum Contagiosum in HIV Patient Treated with 20% Topical Glycolic Acid After Resistance with Topical Tretinoin
We report a case of MC in an HIV patient who was treated with 20% topical glycolic acid after failing treatment with topical tretinoin. The diagnosis was made clinically, cytologically, and histopathologically, a white mass was found on compression of the lesion and Henderson-Paterson bodies. The lesions on the face, arms, and legs were given glycolic acid lotion 20% which was applied once a day at night. The lesions started to show responses to the treatment at week 6th as some of the MC papules became hyperpigmented macules. The side effects of therapy that appeared were itching and hyperpigmentation. Topical 20% glycoli...

Cancers, Vol. 15, Pages 4272: The Evolving Role of Cryosurgery in Breast Cancer Management: A Comprehensive Review
sam Jouhara Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed type of cancer, accounting for approximately one in eight cancer diagnoses worldwide. In 2020, there were approximately 2.3 million new cases of breast cancer globally, resulting in around 685,000 deaths. Consequently, there is an ongoing need to develop innovative therapeutic approaches that can improve both clinical outcomes and patient quality of life. The use of ultra-low cryogenic temperatures, facilitated by cryogenic media such as liquid nitrogen, has revolutionized the biomedical field and opened up new possibilities for advanced clinical treatments, incl...
