Cutaneous leishmaniosis due to Leishmania mexicana in a cat treated with cryotherapy
We report the novel use of cryosurgery to treat cutaneous feline leishmaniosis (FeL) in a domestic cat from mid-western Venezuela. Amastigotes, evident by microscopy in aspirates from the nodular, erythematous nose lesions, were identified as Leishmania mexicana by cytochrome b gene sequence analysis. Lesions resolved completely without relapse after 14 months.PMID:35644532 | DOI:10.1111/vde.13083 (Source: Veterinary Dermatology)

Non-melanoma skin cancers: physio-pathology and role of lipid delivery systems in new chemotherapeutic treatments
Neoplasia. 2022 May 29;30:100810. doi: 10.1016/j.neo.2022.100810. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTNon-melanoma carcinoma has high incidence rates and has two most common subtypes: basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. This type of carcinoma is usually not fatal; however, it can destroy sensory organs such as the nose, ears, and lips. The treatment of these injuries using non-invasive methods is thus strongly recommended. Some treatments for non-melanoma carcinoma are already well defined, such as surgery, cryosurgery, curettage and electrode section, and radiotherapy; however, these conventional treatments cause ...

Efficacy of Therapies for Actinic Keratosis
To the Editor In their network meta-analysis (NMA) of treatments for actinic keratosis (AK), Steeb et al concluded that photodynamic therapy with aminolevulinate had the greatest long-term efficacy based on the surrogate outcome of complete clearance of AK at 12 months, followed by imiquimod cream, 5%, photodynamic therapy with methyl aminolevulinate, and cryosurgery. We expand on their concerns regarding clinical relevance of this ranking. (Source: JAMA Dermatology)
