Clonorchis sinensis legumain promotes migration and invasion of cholangiocarcinoma cells via regulating tumor-related molecules
Clonorchis sinensis infection causes serious pathological changes in the bile duct and is highly correlated with cholangiocarcinoma. The excretory –secretory products (ESP) of C. sinensis play a critical role in t... (Source: Parasites and Vectors)

< i > Opisthorchis viverrini < /i > , < i > Clonorchis sinensis < /i > and < i > Opisthorchis felineus < /i > liver flukes affect mammalian host microbiome in a species-specific manner
Conclusions/SignificanceO.felineus,O.viverrini, andC.sinensis infections cause both general and species-specific qualitative and quantitative changes in the composition of microbiota of bile and colon feces of experimental animals infected with these trematodes. The alterations primarily concern the abundance of individual features and the phylogenetic diversity of microbiomes of infected hamsters. (Source: PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases)

Chitosan based encapsulation of Valeriana officinalis essential oil as edible coating for inhibition of fungi and aflatoxin B < sub > 1 < /sub > contamination, nutritional quality improvement, and shelf life extension of Citrus sinensis fruits
In this study, a novel chitosan nanoemulsion coating embedded with Valeriana officinalis essential oil (Ne-VOEO) was synthesized in order to improve the postharvest quality of Citrus sinensis fruits against infesting fungi, and aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) mediated nutritional deterioration. The developed nanoemulsion was characterized through SEM, FTIR, XRD, and DLS analyses. The nanoemulsion showed controlled delivery of VOEO responsible for effective inhibition of Aspergillus flavus, A. niger, A. versicolor, Penicillium italicum, and Fusarium oxysporum growth at 6.5, 5.0, 4.0, 5.5, and 3.5 μL/mL, respectively and AFB1 productio...

< i > Clonorchis sinensis < /i > aggravates biliary fibrosis through promoting IL-6 production via toll-like receptor 2-mediated AKT and p38 signal pathways
In conclusion, these data indicate thatC.sinensis infection activated TGF- β1-Smad2/3 through TLR2-mediated AKT and p38 pathways to promote IL-6 production, which resulted in myofibroblast activation and aggravating biliary fibrosis in mice. (Source: PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases)

Effects of < i > Clonorchis sinensis < /i > combined with Hepatitis B virus infection on the prognosis of patients with Hepatocellular Carcinoma following Hepatectomy
ConclusionPatients with HCC andClonorchis sinensis infection experience a poor prognosis after hepatectomy, regardless of whether they are co-infected with HBV. (Source: PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases)

Serum metabolic profiling of rats infected with Clonorchis sinensis using LC-MS/MS method
ConclusionThese results show that C. sinensis infection can cause significant changes in the rat serum metabolism, especially in amino acids and lipids. The metabolic signature together with perturbations in metabolic pathways could provide more in depth understanding of clonorchiasis and further make potential therapeutic interventions.
