The utility of direct questions about actions with the hands in child forensic interviews.
This study evaluated the utility of asking direct hands questions (“what did he do with his hands” and “what did you do with your hands”) during forensic interviews with 197 five- to 17-year-old children disclosing sexual abuse. "Instead of just taking my baby, they could've actually given me a chance": Experiences with plans of safe care among birth parents impacted by perinatal substance use
CONCLUSIONS: Stigma, confusion, and fear of CPS involvement undermine the goal of POSCs to support substance-exposed infants and birth parents. Providers serving this population should be transparent regarding CPS notifications, provide compassionate, non-stigmatizing care, and offer coordination services to support engagement after discharge. Policymakers should consider separating POSCs from CPS to avoid exacerbating fear and mistrust.PMID:38615413 | DOI:10.1016/j.chiabu.2024.106798 (Source: Child Abuse and Neglect)

The relationship between childhood trauma, psychotic symptoms, and cognitive schemas in patients with schizophrenia, their siblings, and healthy controls: results from the EU-GEI study
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest that childhood abuse and neglect are more common in patients with schizophrenia than their siblings and healthy controls, and have different impacts on clinical domains which we searched. The relationship between CT and positive symptoms seems to be mediated by negative cognitive schemas about self in schizophrenia.PMID:38606591 | DOI:10.1017/S0033291724000540 (Source: Psychological Medicine)

Does mental contamination mediate the association between childhood trauma and obsessive-compulsive symptoms in adults?
CONCLUSIONS: Our research shows that the association between childhood trauma and OCD may be explained by mental contamination. We recommend that mental contamination should be assessed and addressed in OCD patients with a history of childhood trauma.PMID:38608420 | DOI:10.1016/j.chiabu.2024.106789 (Source: Child Abuse and Neglect)
