The transcriptomic profile shows the protective effects of celecoxib on cirrhotic splenomegaly
CONCLUSIONS: Celecoxib attenuates cirrhotic splenomegaly by inhibiting splenic immune cell proliferation, inflammation, and fibrogenesis. The current study sheds light on the therapeutic strategy of liver cirrhosis by targeting splenic abnormalities and provides COX-2 inhibitors as a novel medical treatment for cirrhotic splenomegaly.PMID:38047472 | DOI:10.1080/08923973.2023.2281282 (Source: Immunopharmacology and Immunotoxicology)

Cyclooxygenase-2 inhibition prevents renal toxicity but not hypertension during sunitinib treatment
CONCLUSION: Selective COX-2 inhibition ameliorates albuminuria during angiogenesis inhibition, which most likely acts independently of PGI2. To combat angiogenesis inhibitor-induced hypertension, dual rather than selective COX-1/2 blockade seems preferential.PMID:38029870 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejphar.2023.176199 (Source: European Journal of Pharmacology)

Palmitic acid and trans-4-hydroxy-3-methoxycinnamate, the active ingredients of Yaobishu formula, reduce inflammation and pain by regulating gut microbiota and metabolic changes after lumbar disc herniation to activate autophagy and the Wnt/ β-catenin pathway
In this study, we investigated the mechanism of palmitic acid (PA) and trans-4-hydroxy-3-methoxycinnamic acid (THMC) on microbiota, metabolic homeostasis, and autophagy after LDH. The LDH rat model was established by puncturing the exposed intervertebral disc. 16S rDNA was used to assess the gut microbiome composition. The microbial metabolites were analyzed by UPLC-MS. The mechanism of PA and THMC in LDH was explored by fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT). We found that Yaobishu, PA, THMC, and the positive control drug Celebrex attenuated intervertebral disc damage in LDH rats and downregulated TRPV1, IL-1β, and IL-18...

Disruption of cholangiocyte-B cell crosstalk by blocking the CXCL12-CXCR4 axis alleviates liver fibrosis
Cell Mol Life Sci. 2023 Nov 27;80(12):379. doi: 10.1007/s00018-023-05032-y.ABSTRACTB cells can promote liver fibrosis, but the mechanism of B cell infiltration and therapy against culprit B cells are lacking. We postulated that the disruption of cholangiocyte-B-cell crosstalk could attenuate liver fibrosis by blocking the CXCL12-CXCR4 axis via a cyclooxygenase-2-independent effect of celecoxib. In wild-type mice subjected to thioacetamide, celecoxib ameliorated lymphocytic infiltration and liver fibrosis. By single-cell RNA sequencing and flow cytometry, CXCR4 was established as a marker for profibrotic and liver-homing ph...

Efficacy and safety of Sodium hyaluronate combined with Celecoxib for Knee osteoarthritis: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Asian J Surg. 2023 Nov 25:S1015-9584(23)01855-9. doi: 10.1016/j.asjsur.2023.11.077. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDue to the large cost of joint replacement for surgical treatment of knee osteoarthritis, there are many complications in elderly patients, and there are many contraindications to surgery, and conservative treatment is still based on drugs. To further evaluate the efficacy and safety of sodium hyaluronate combined with celecoxib for the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee. In total, 202 studies were screened, with a final selection of 9 RCTs involving 2339 participants; of these, 9 RCTs were included in the...

Proliferative verrucous leukoplakia/multifocal leukoplakia in patients with and without oral sub mucous fibrosis
CONCLUSIONS: The occurrence of two or more oral potentially malignant disorders poses challenges in patient management and possibly presents a higher risk of malignant transformation. More clinical trials are necessary to assess the benefits of metronomic therapy for patients diagnosed with aggressive PVL concurrently found with OSF.PMID:37992140 | DOI:10.4317/medoral.26106 (Source: Medicina Oral, Patologia Oral y Cirugia Bucal)
