Hi! Thanks for the click. I am a first time applicant, URM (Latino), & Florida resident. I am a little concerned that of my 17 MD schools, I won't find myself an acceptance, and I am considering attempting DO schools too. I have my two state schools on my AACOMAS list, but I would love suggestions for more! Stats: -Chemical engineering major + biomedical engineering minor - graduated in 4y -Master's student in biomedical engineering -First-generation American (Cuban parents are refugees)... 505 MCAT, 3.8sGPA 3.79cGPA (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I scored low in organic chemistry DAT, how much will this hurt me?
Hi all, I took the DAT at the end of May, 2016. I scored 21 PAT, 25 RC, 19 QR 19 Bio, 19 GC, and 16 OC. This broke down to 18 TS and 19 AA. These scores were not as high as I wanted, largely due to OC, and I wanted to get some opinions on how much the OC score will hurt me. Some other relevant information: I am a biomedical engineering major and have a 3.49 GPA from a rigorous school. I have over 1500 hours of relevant work experience, close to 500 hours of research experience, over 200... I scored low in organic chemistry DAT, how much will this hurt me? Changing Major/Double Majoring to Raise GPA
Hello SDN, I'm entering my "junior" year of college (Technically year 6) and switching from Biomedical Engineering to Pharmaceutical Chemistry. The reason for switching is because of a lack of an interest in the engineering field compared to pharm chem as well as engineering was killing my GPA (Engineering GPA is 3.2 compared to pharm GPA of 3.75). I was wondering if this would affect my chances into medical school. My girlfriend and I (Also a fellow premed) don't think it would hurt my... BME v. Molecular Biology
Hi everyone, I will be a freshman undergrad this fall and am having a world of difficulty deciding whether to major in Biomedical Engineering or Molecular Biology / Genetics. I am pre-med, and I know that GPA is incredibly important, and that a Bio major is likely easier than BME. However, a BME major may look better and harder to an admissions committee, easing the chances of admissions and that there is a correlation between BME and higher MCAT scores. I want to major in something... BME v. Molecular Biology (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Undergrad GPA 3.3, Grad GPA 3.9 (5 years later), MCAT 517 Could use help picking schools.
I've gone back to school and have done pretty well and hope that my MCAT and new GPA can reflect that change in maturity. But with the new scores, my boyfriend recommends I apply to top programs, but with the poor undergraduate scores, I'm not so sure. My background is undergraduate in Chemical Engineering with an emphasis in biomedical engineering, worked as a chemist for 2 years in college w/ a publication. Got out of school worked 1 year as an industrial chemist, 4 as an oil and gas... Undergrad GPA 3.3, Grad GPA 3.9 (5 years later), MCAT 517 Could use help picking schools. Rough first year of undergrad
First time posting on SDN, so I'm not sure if this is in the right place or not. But I'll get to it anyway: Basically, I've had a rough first year of undergrad. I go to a small, rigorous engineering school where I will major in mechanical engineering with a minor in biomedical engineering. It's been a rough transition, and I've had to withdraw from one class already and I'm barely pulling a 3.0 for this first year. With my plans to go into either med school or dental school (I'm undecided as... Rough first year of undergrad (Source: Student Doctor Network)

MD/PhD chances?
I am a senior in a top 10 school studying biomedical engineering and mechanical engineering. cGPA=sGPA=3.9. MCAT 508. Asian. I will graduate from college when I am 19 (spent 3 years to get two engineering majors) but I'm not sure if this will help me or hold me back. EC: 3 years of basic science research in a biomechanics lab, 3 years in a genetic lab. One publication and several presentations. Chances of getting into MD/PhD program?
Hello. This is my first post, so please bare with me. I want to get into a biomedical engineering MD/PhD program if possible. Applied medical research is my passion. However, my GPA is awful. I just want to know what my chances are and how I could improve them. B.Sc. Chemistry - 3.26 gpa (2012) B.Sc. Honors biochemistry - 3.26 gpa (2012) EMT B certification (2015) M.Sc. Chemical engineering - 3.2 gpa (almost graduated) Graduate certificate in biomanufacturing (almost done) I have... Chances of getting into MD/PhD program? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Job opportunities with an MD-PhD in BME?
If I were to complete an MD-PhD with a focus on Biomedical Engineering, what jobs in healthcare (so the MD part specifically) would best suit me based on my education? I definitely know that I want to go into cellular/molecular biology bench research with the PhD. I want to do something not too different with the MD so I would prefer to stray away from surgery. I was thinking among the lines of medical laboratory technician but I don't really know what's out there. (Source: Student Doctor Network)
