Integrating spatial transcriptomics and single-cell RNA-sequencing reveals the alterations in epithelial cells during nodular formation in benign prostatic hyperplasia
Proliferative nodular formation represents a characteristic pathological feature of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and serves as the primary cause for prostate volume enlargement and consequent lower urina... (Source: Journal of Translational Medicine)

National trends of surgery for benign prostatic hyperplasia in Finland
CONCLUSION: The implementation of PVP did not challenge the dominating position of TURP in Finland, but it has probably influenced the overall use of other surgical therapies, excluding transurethral incision of the prostate. The results might suggest that the conservative treatment is accentuated, patient selection is more thorough, and surgical intervention might be placed at a later stage of BPO.PMID:38647246 | DOI:10.2340/sju.v59.32425 (Source: Scandinavian Journal of Urology)

Enhancing surgical outcomes: accurate identification and removal of prostate cancer with B7-H3-targeted NIR-II molecular imaging
CONCLUSION: The findings revealed that B7-H3 was a compelling imaging target for PCa. The AbB7-H3-800CW molecular imaging probe is capable of accurately identifying PCa lesions and guiding their removal. This approach can potentially reduce the rate of surgical margins under NIR-II fluorescence guidance.PMID:38647671 | DOI:10.1007/s00259-024-06714-w (Source: Molecular Medicine)

Holmium laser enucleation of the prostate for a case of transition zone prostate cancer
We present a case of transition zone prostate cancer that was treated with holmium laser enucleation of the prostate, a procedure that is normally reserved for the management of benign prostatic hyperplasia.PMID:38642466 (Source: Canadian Journal of Urology)

How I Do It: Teaching holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP)
Can J Urol. 2024 Apr;31(2):11848-11853.ABSTRACTHolmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) is considered a size-independent technique to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia. This safe and effective procedure is increasingly being adopted in urology training programs worldwide, yet limited teaching strategies have been described. Endoscopic handling during HoLEP allows for a simultaneous interaction between the surgeon and trainee, facilitating a guided teaching strategy with increasing difficulty as experience grows. In this article, we describe our stepwise approach for teaching HoLEP as part of a structured surgical...
