Sheet-like interstitial cells connect epithelial and smooth muscle cells in the mouse prostate
Acta Histochem. 2024 Mar 13;126(3):152153. doi: 10.1016/j.acthis.2024.152153. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTEpithelial-stromal relationship in the prostate gland is crucial for maintaining homeostasis, including functional differentiation, proliferation, and quiescence. Pathological stromal changes are believed to cause benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The prostate stromal tissue is known to have several subtypes of interstitial cells that connect the epithelium and smooth muscle. However, the characteristics of their morphology and connection patterns are not fully understood. Therefore, we aimed to investigated the th...

Pulse modulation in En-Bloc HoLEP: does it really matter? A propensity score matched analysis
ConclusionOverall, the enucleation efficiency was high in both groups and the procedure time was short. HoLEP is an efficient and safe treatment option in experienced hands, regardless of the use of pulse modulation technology. (Source: World Journal of Urology)

Secondary bladder stone caused by delayed penetration of the bladder by a pubic fracture: A case report and literature review
Exp Ther Med. 2024 Feb 27;27(4):167. doi: 10.3892/etm.2024.12455. eCollection 2024 Apr.ABSTRACTPelvic fractures sometimes lead to injuries of the urinary bladder, which commonly present as gross hematuria, dysuria and lower abdominal pain. As a type of urinary stone, bladder stones are usually secondary to lower urinary tract obstruction, such as benign prostatic hyperplasia, urethral stricture, and neurogenic bladder. The present case report examines an unusual case of a delayed pubic fracture penetrating the bladder, which caused a secondary bladder stone. A 53-year-old man was first hospitalized at The Second Hospital o...

MOSESTM Technology versus Non-Moses Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate: A Randomized Controlled Trial from a High-Volume Center
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) management has evolved from transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) to holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP). Recent innovation introduces MosesTM technology in holmium lasers, with the Lumenis PulseTM system. (Source: Urology)

Micro/nanofluidic device for tamsulosin therapeutic drug monitoring in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia at point of care
Anal Sci. 2024 Mar 11. doi: 10.1007/s44211-024-00533-7. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDiscovering the balance between toxicity and efficacy for many drugs requires therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) of their concentrations in the blood. Here, a hot-embossed microfluidic device with a new design integrated to a nanofracture is presented for purification of blood samples from numerous proteins and cells, allowing to the separation of small molecules from blood matrix. The device was used to separate and quantitatively detect tamsulosin drug after derivatization with fluorescamine reagent, allowing converting it from a neutral...
