Molecules, Vol. 28, Pages 614: Determination of Chemical Composition and Investigation of Biological Activities of Ocimum basilicum L.
This study aimed to determine the chemical composition of the essential oils (EOs) of Ocimum basilicum L., as well as to evaluate the antibacterial, antidiabetic, dermatoprotective, and anti-inflammatory properties, and the EOs and aqueous extracts of O. basilicum. The antibacterial activity was evaluated against bacterial strains, Gram-positive and Gram-negative, using the well diffusion and microdilution methods, whereas the antidiabetic activity was assessed in vitro using two enzymes involved in carbohydrate digestion, α-amylase and α-glucosidase. On the other hand, the dermatoprotective and...

Morphological and molecular characterization of downy mildew on sweet basil (Ocimum basilicum) caused by Peronospora belbahrii in Turkiye
CONCLUSIONS: Based on the molecular analysis, morphological characteristics and pathogenicity tests the pathogen was identified as P. belbahrii. To our knowledge, this is the first report of downy mildew caused by P. belbahrii on sweet basil in Turkiye.PMID:36576676 | DOI:10.1007/s11033-022-08218-y (Source: Molecular Biology Reports)

Seasonal variation in the chemical composition and larvicidal activity against Aedes aegypti L. of essential oils from Brazilian Amazon
Exp Parasitol. 2022 Oct 18;243:108405. doi: 10.1016/j.exppara.2022.108405. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTArthropod-borne viral diseases are important public health threats in tropical countries. In the Americas, diseases such as Dengue, Zika, Chikungunya, Mayaro, and Yellow fever, which are mainly transmitted by Aedes aegypti L. are responsible for high rates of morbidity and mortality in the populations. The incidence of those viruses has increased in the last few years, due to the decrease of vector control programs, as well as, the resistance of this vector in front of many products that have been used in this proposal....
