CD36 −SREBP1 Axis Mediates TSLP Production in Obesity-Exacerbated Atopic Dermatitis
In this study, we found that high-fat diet −induced obesity exacerbated AD-like dermatitis in mice, with elevated inflammatory molecules and increased CD36−SREBP1−related fatty acid accumulation in the lesional skin. Blocking CD36 or SREBP1 with chemical inhibitors effectively alleviated AD-like inflammation, decreased fatty acid accum ulation, and downregulated TSLP expression in obese calcipotriol (MC903)−treated mice. CD36-SREBP1 axis mediates thymic stromal lymphopoietin production in obesity-exacerbated atopic dermatitis
In this study, we found that high fat diet (HFD)-induced obesity exacerbated AD-like dermatitis in mice, with elevated inflammatory molecules and increased CD36-sterol-regulatory element binding protein1 (SREBP1)-related fatty acid accumulation in the lesional skin. 1308 Dermatological assessment and treatment considerations in skin of color patients
Patients with skin of color are under-represented in dermatology literature. These patients are more often misdiagnosed and under-treated. The aim of this review is to focus on skin conditions that are more prevalent in patients with skin of color due to any or several of the following factors: physiology, geography, ethnicity, culture, religion and/or socioeconomic status. These include, but are not limited to, acanthosis nigricans, acne keloidalis nuchae, discoid lupus, and sarcoidosis. There will also be an emphasis on conditions that might not be more prevalent in skin of color patients but can cause more negative sequ...

An unusual pigmented skin lesion on the nipple ‐areola area
AbstractConsidering the rarity and underdiagnoses of this disorder, a pigmented and hyperkeratotic skin lesion located on the trunk, resembling to acanthosis nigricans should always be investigated for terra firma-forme dermatosis (TFFD) and thus alcohol must be applied. TFFD should be known among dermatologists and can be easily diagnosed and treated with isopropyl alcohol. (Source: Clinical Case Reports)

Efficacy of Fractional Carbon Dioxide (CO < sub > 2 < /sub > ) Laser versus Q-Switched Neodymium-Doped Yttrium Aluminum Garnet (Nd:YAG) and Potassium-Titanyl-Phosphate (KTP) Lasers in the Treatment of Acanthosis Nigricans
CONCLUSION: In this study, we concluded that both fractional CO2 and Q-switched lasers proved to be a safe and effective line of treatment of acanthosis nigricans.PMID:36992970 | PMC:PMC10042172 | DOI:10.2147/CCID.S401479 (Source: Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology)

Differential effects of metformin on immune-mediated and androgen-mediated non-cancer skin diseases in diabetes patients: a retrospective cohort study
Conclusion: Metformin use is associated with a significantly lower risk of immune-mediated skin diseases but a lack of preventive effect on androgen-mediated skin diseases. (Source: Dermatology)

Characteristics and possible mechanisms of metabolic disorder in overweight women with polycystic ovary syndrome
ConclusionsOverweight patients with PCOS are prone to low gonadal levels, IR, and chronic low-grade inflammation. Inflammatory cytokines CXCL12/SDF-1, Serpin E1/PAI-1and MIF might lead to IR through multiple biological functions and signal transductions in overweight PCOS. (Source: Frontiers in Endocrinology)

Two Cases of Insulin-Derived Amyloidosis With Acanthosis Nigricans-Like Changes
Abstract: Insulin-derived amyloidosis (AIns) is a rare iatrogenic subtype of cutaneous amyloidosis occurring at frequent insulin injection sites. Here, we describe 2 cases of AIns accompanied by acanthosis nigricans (AN)-like changes, a rare finding which has been reported fewer than 5 times in the literature. We also report the first case of an AIns nodule being misdiagnosed as a keloid. Both of our patients presented with asymptomatic, hyperkeratotic, pigmented plaques at frequent insulin injection sites, and histopathologic examination showed (1) nodular aggregates of amyloid demonstrating apple-green birefringence ...

Comparing the efficacy and safety profiles of 0.025% and 0.05% tretinoin creams in treating acanthosis nigricans: a randomized double-blinded study
AbstractAcanthosis nigricans (AN) is a skin disorder with hyperpigmented and velvety plaques without a standardized treatment regimen. We aimed to compare the efficacy and safety profile of 0.025% and 0.05% tretinoin creams in managing AN. An 8-week, randomized double-blinded study was conducted in adults with AN. Participants were instructed to apply tretinoin cream on their posterior neck. Narrowband reflectance spectrophotometry was used to measure skin improvement through melanin (M) and erythema (E) indices at each follow-up visits at weeks 2, 4, and 8. Improvements in Acanthosis nigricans scoring chart (ANSC), invest...

IJERPH, Vol. 19, Pages 14601: Assessment of Overweight, Obesity, Central Obesity, and Type 2 Diabetes among Adolescents in Qatar: A Cross-Sectional Study
This study aimed to (1) determine the prevalence of overweight, obesity, and T2DM in 13–17-year-old adolescents and (2) evaluate associations with adolescents’ lifestyle and breastfeeding history, parental weight, and familial T2DM history. A cross-sectional study (double-stage cluster sampling) was conducted in 2018–2020 using a self-administered parental and adolescent questionnaire. In the results, 23.4% of the adolescents (107/459) were overweight; 19.9% (91/459) were obese; and 37.6% (171/459) had evidence of central obesity. Random blood sugar (RBS) was suggestive of prediabe...
