Updated Results of PURE-01 with Preliminary Activity of Neoadjuvant Pembrolizumab in Patients with Muscle-invasive Bladder Carcinoma with Variant Histologies

ConclusionsThe updated PURE-01 results confirm the activity of neoadjuvant pembrolizumab in MIBC. Patients with SCC and LEL features may be suitable for neoadjuvant immunotherapy trials. CPS and TMB are the key response predictors irrespective of the histological subtypes.Patient summaryIn the PURE-01 study, we have preliminarily evaluated the activity of neoadjuvant pembrolizumab in patients with predominant variant histology (VH). Of these patients, those harboring squamous-cell carcinoma or a lymphoepithelioma-like variant feature had major, although preliminary, pathological responses compared with those with other predominant VHs. Expression of programmed cell-death ligand-1 and tumor mutational burden may predict the pathological response to pembrolizumab, and provide a rationale for selecting patients according to these features instead of the histological bladder cancer subtypes.

Abstract Cancer incidence rate has increased so much that it is the second leading cause of deaths worldwide after cardiovascular diseases. Sensitive and specific biomarkers are needed for an early diagnosis of cancer and in-time treatment. Recent studies have found that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) participate in cancer tumorigenesis. LncRNA P73 antisense RNA 1T (TP73-AS1), also known as KIAA0495 and p53-dependent apoptosis modulator (PDAM), is located in human chromosomal band 1p36.32 and plays a crucial role in many different carcinomas. This review summarizes current findings on the role of TP73-AS1 and its ...

s T Abstract Fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR)3 and phosphatidylinositol‑4,5‑bisphosphate 3‑kinase, catalytic subunit alpha (PIK3CA) mutations are found in various types of cancer, such as urinary bladder cancer, human papillomavirus‑positive tonsillar and base of the tongue squamous cell carcinoma, breast cancer and some childhood sarcomas. Several drugs can target these genes, some of which have been used for the treatment of urinary bladder cancer. Much less is known about childhood cancer. For this reason, the present study investigated the presence of such mutations in neuroblastomas (NBs) and ...

ConclusionSince technical difficulties with a limited number of hands, some complex surgery like radical hysterectomy has rarely been performed through LESS approach[1]. The dissection of vesicocevical and parametrial space are critical to radical hysterectomy, dissatisfied exposure during the procedure are the majority difficulties[2]. In the video, surgery for cervical cancer was performed successfully and also met the FIGO standards for radical hysterectomy (Type C). Our video demonstrated that the varied and flexible suspension played a significant role to provide a clear vision and sufficiently exposure, it was feasib...

CONCLUSION: In contrast to recent publications assessing malignancy risk in patients with AAV, we show in this population-based cohort of patients, a persistent increased risk for overall malignancy, bladder cancer, and pancreatic cancer as well as a markedly increased risk for SCC. There was no increase in incidence of cancers other than SCC for those treated with less than 10 grams CYC. PMID: 31474595 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Mithilesh N Mishra, Vidyadevi Chandavarkar, Ritika Sharma, Deepak BhargavaJournal of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology 2019 23(2):267-272 CD44 is a group of protein molecules which perform a variety of functions. Their wide range of functions are mainly based on their multiple variations in their molecular structure. Furthermore, they are distributed in various tissues of the human body. They have a unique property of cell adhesion, which can lead to interaction between two different cells or a cell and its pericellular matrix. CD44 as a cell surface adhesive molecule helps in aggregation and migration of tumor cells. CD44...
