Initial clinical experience with a dedicated breast PET system
Conclusions Dedicated breast PET may be a beneficial adjunct test following whole-body PET/CT in evaluating patients with breast cancer. Whole-body PET/CT offers advantages over dedicated breast PET, such as evaluation of systemic disease, lymph node involvement, and chest wall invasion. However, breast PET’s increased spatial resolution [reported as 1.6mm isotropic (1)] may aide in early detection of small lesions not visible on whole-body PET/CT, rendering these tools complimentary to each other for management of breast disease.
