Work and Activities Review-Applying this cycle
Hello! I was wondering if anyone has the time to give me feedback on my work and activities. I am a terrible writer, I need feedback on if did enough "showing" and not "telling." I have a google doc. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Save Plan
Hi everyone I had a quick question about SAVE plan and just strategies to pay off my loans. I have about 68k in loans, have free rent due to my spouses job and pay pretty much the entirety of my paycheck to my loan. I should be done with my loan payments next year 2025. Not currently doing Save, paying a lot of interest each month. I know the purpose of save is to eventually get loan forgiveness but imo there aren’t enough jobs that fit the loan forgiveness criteria to justify not paying... Special Masters with DO Linkage? Or Take my chances?
I received acceptance to local special masters program. As long as I do well, I'll link to their DO program (with good reputation) next year. It's 30K, though. My original undergrad GPA is 2.2, but 18 years as a paramedic later (age 40 now) and going back to school retaking sciences and non-sciences with a 3.7, so new GPA is 2.8, and MCAT 508. Thoughts on my chances. Upward trend and work experience is great (and research and volunteer), but is my application going to even be looked at or... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Decent undergrad GPA bad Grad GPA?
I have 3.6 GPA 3.67sGPA for undergrad. My grad GPA is 3.2. My Undergraduate GPA is already low enough that I am worried whether my grad GPA will hurt my chances even furthur. I have seen people asking what people saying they have good grades gpa but bad undergrad GPA but haven't heard about the opposite case. My "excuse" would be I was "forced" to pursue a graduate degree in a field I did not want due to immigration issues I had back then. What is your thought on this? Thanks (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Predicament: Contact Anesthesia group, locums company, or hospital???
I have a certain specific scenario I was hoping for advice on, and wondering if anyone had any experience in the matter. I currently have a full time job, but am looking to make some extra money on days and weekends off. The anesthesia at a local hospital in my area is contracted by a large nationwide private equity group. I have noticed they have been advertising non-stop for full time positions on Gaswork for the past year or so, and recently a locums company began advertising a job for a... OMFS Application and INBDE
I'm applying this upcoming application cycle, and I was wondering if INBDE scores are required before submitting your PASS application. Our school only allows us to take the exam during the fall semester, and, due to testing center availability, there is the potential my exam date may be close to or after the September 15th application due date. I'll have all other required application materials ready well before the due date. Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Recent grad looking to become better/faster at Endo
Hey guys, 2023 grad here who has been working as a GP for about 9 months. I've become pretty comfortable with bread and butter dentistry but I haven't had too much experience with endo, just a handful of anteriors/premolars and am hoping to get better/faster. Does anyone have any recommendations for hands on CE courses that are worth the money? I have watched a number of online/on-demand CE courses from my company and so I feel pretty comfortable with the theoretical aspect of it, now I'm... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Australian 2024 National Suicide Prevention Conference (notes)
Got permission from my former Psychiatrist to post some of the notes he took at the National Suicide Prevention Conference in Adelaide recently. Thought it might be interesting to folks and spark some discussion. - Moving away from a pure mental illness treatment model of suicide. I’ve always said (and can back this up) that the ’90% of deaths by suicide is due to mental illness’ is a myth, and a dangerous one at that. - Recognising that suicide acts are entirely, utterly... Medical Student on the Spectrum
Today I was sad to hear one of my favorite medical students who’s super authentic, hardworking, capable, and kind didn’t match his desired specialty. He’s is very much on the spectrum though and it’s immediately apparent to anyone who meets him. His board scores, letters, etc. were all way higher than average (at least per his report- I obviously dunno for sure) and he wasn’t applying to anything super competitive. We talked today and honestly I can’t help wondering if it’s because he’s on... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
