We translate Cochrane evidence to make it more accessible, and to reduce the linguistic barrier to global evidence-informed health decisions.Cochrane groups in different parts of the world lead our knowledge translation activities in different languages. They translate Cochrane Reviews and related content, such aspodcasts or blogshots. They also produce and share information in...

Bad Flu Season Has Americans Drinking Orange Juice Again
BOSTON (CBS) – American battling the flu have been on the hunt for Vitamin C. Consumers bought nearly 39 million gallons of orange juice in January. That’s the first time in almost five years that there’s been a year-over-year increase in orange juice sales, The Wall Street Journal reports. Analysts expect the orange juice surge to end after flu season. The Associated Press reported that this flu season is now as bad as the swine flu epidemic nine years ago. Some doctors say it’s the worst they’ve seen in decades. (Source: WBZ-TV - Breaking News, Weather and Sports for Boston, Worcester and New Hampshire)

Chemists develop a simple, easy-to-use method to break down pollutants in water
(Martin-Luther-Universit ä t Halle-Wittenberg) Chemists from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) have found out how stubborn pollutants in water can be disintegrated easily and cost-effectively. To do so researchers only need a green LED light, a catalyst and vitamin C. In this way, they can produce special types of electrons that reliably destroy the pollutants in the water. Until now, complex laser systems were required for this. The study was recently published in the international journal " Angewandte Chemie " . (Source: EurekAlert! - Biology)

Vitamin C in the body can be tracked by fluorescence
(Institute of Industrial Science, The University of Tokyo) A Japanese research team led by The University of Tokyo's Institute of Industrial Science bio-imaged vitamin C in mice. A probe chemical emitted red fluorescent light after reacting with vitamin C in the mice's bloodstream. When a dose of exogenous vitamin C was injected, it accumulated in vital organs. This is the first bioimaging of vitamin C in living tissue, showing high sensitivity and good selectivity, paving the way toward the use of this vitamin to treat cancer. Vitamin deficiency we are all born with
I’ve admired Linus Pauling for years. In 1976, the Nobel Prize-winning chemist gave mega doses of vitamin C to 100 “untreatable” cancer patients. He then compared these so-called terminal patients to patients with the same kind of cancer who didn’t get vitamin C. The patients who received the traditional cancer treatment lived for an average of six months. Pauling’s patients lived — on average — for six years. You’d think that the medical community would have heralded Pauling’s research as a huge breakthrough in cancer treatment. But they didn’t. And they still don’t. Despite groundbreaking research...

6,000-year-old track record for healing leaky gut
When I was traveling in India, I had the privilege of studying Ayurvedic medicine with traditional Master Healers. Surrounded by lakes, oceans and mountains, Kerala, India, is the birthplace of Ayurveda medicine. My plane landed in Mumbai. From there, I made the 800-mile trip to Kerala down on the southwestern-most tip of the Indian peninsula. With origins dating back 6,000 years, Kerala is the birthplace of Ayurvedic medicine. I spent a lot of time at the AyurMana or “ancient healing house.” This is the oldest existing school of Ayurvedic medicine in the world. It was there that I observed how quickly Ayurv...
