Quadricuspid Aortic Valve: Interesting Images
Ann Card Anaesth. 2024 Jan 1;27(1):51-52. doi: 10.4103/aca.aca_110_23. Epub 2024 Jan 12.ABSTRACTThe quadricuspid aortic valve is a rare congenital anomaly, usually associated with aortic regurgitation requiring surgical intervention. It may be associated with other congenital anomalies such as coronary anomalies, patent ductus arteriosus, ventricular septal defect, pulmonary stenosis, and subaortic stenosis. The diagnosis is generally established by either transthoracic or transesophageal echocardiography. Herein, we report a case of a 52-year-old woman who was diagnosed to have quadricuspid aortic valve by intraoperative ...

Diagnosis and treatment in a series of patients with cardiac corrected transposition of the great arteries (double discordance)
CONCLUSIONS: The quality of life of these patients is improving and there is still controversy in the literature about the ideal time to perform the most appropriate surgical procedure.PMID:38718428 | DOI:10.24875/ACM.23000262 (Source: Archivos de Cardiologia de Mexico)

Collateral-Induced Hypoxemia After Bidirectional Glenn Procedure
A 5-year-old boy [weight:15.6kg; height: 112cm] presented to the author's institution with progressive shortness of breath and central cyanosis [arterial oxygen saturation of 76% on room air]. As a neonate, the child was diagnosed with normal situs, pulmonary atresia, and multiple ventricular septal defects. A stent was deployed into the ductus arteriosus as an emergent procedure. At 15 months of age, the child underwent a bidirectional Glenn procedure with azygos vein ligation and division of the distal part of the ductus arteriosus stent. Mp-470552-004 left bundle branch pacing in a children with criss-cross heart and repaired ventricular septal defect
Conduction system pacing (CSP) is a promising alternative to traditional ventricular pacing with multiple benefits. However, it is difficult to achieve in complex congenital heart diseases, and the benefits in this patient group is still unknown. (Source: Heart Rhythm)

Pe-482887-005 ventricular septal defect characteristics influence presence of septal anatomical isthmuses in patients with repaired tetralogy of fallot
In repaired tetralogy of Fallot (rTOF), the septal anatomical isthmuses (AI), 3, between the ventricular septal defect (VSD) and pulmonary annulus, and 4, between the VSD and tricuspid annulus, are important ventricular tachycardia (VT) substrates when slow conducting. Patients with rTOF can have different VSD characteristics which may influence presence of septal AIs. (Source: Heart Rhythm)

Transaortic septal myectomy at the time of aortic valve replacement for severe aortic stenosis: a case series of 55 cases
ConclusionAVR with CSM is a simple technique that can be utilised in severe AS with ABSH. There does not appear to be an increase in mortality or incidence of iatrogenic VSDs. Importantly, CSM allows for the implantation of a larger aortic valve compared to measurements made before CSM. (Source: Indian Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery)
