The Duty to Accommodate
J Rheumatol. 2024 Apr 1:jrheum.2024-0257. doi: 10.3899/jrheum.2024-0257. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAs the study by Jazayeri et al in this issue of The Journal of Rheumatology points out, the prevalence of unemployment in people with systemic sclerosis (SSc) is estimated at 40.5%, and SSc is associated with "presenteeism (ie, working while unwell), lack of participation in employment, and ultimately, absenteeism."1 This is of course true of patients with the many other musculoskeletal diseases that we as rheumatologists treat.PMID:38561186 | DOI:10.3899/jrheum.2024-0257 (Source: Journal of Rheumatology)

Post-traumatic stress disorder and associated factors among internally displaced persons in Africa: A systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionsThe findings of this systematic review and meta-analysis highlight the alarming prevalence of PTSD among IDPs in Africa. Female gender, marital status, number of traumatic events, ill health without medical care, depression, and frequency of displacement were identified as significant risk factors for PTSD. Effective interventions and the development of tailored mental health programs are needed to prevent PTSD among IDPs, focusing on the identified risk factors. (Source: PLoS One)

Maternal outcomes of pre-eclampsia with severe features and its determinants at Abebech Gobena Mothers and Childrens Health and Saint Peters Specialized Hospital, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia: a cross-sectional study
Conclusions The prevalence of unfavourable maternal outcomes was high compared with other studies in Ethiopia. Maternal age, residence, occupation, blood pressure on admission and severe headache have shown a statistically significant association with unfavourable maternal outcomes. Socioeconomic development and early identification of severe signs and symptoms of pre-eclampsia are needed to reduce unfavourable outcomes. (Source: BMJ Open)

Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTUnemployment affects not only the subjective well-being of the individual, but also that of the partner. Based on the life course perspective and the spillover-crossover-model, we examine the mediating role of relationship functioning for such crossover effects of partner's unemployment on subjective well-being. We also test whether gender differences in the mechanism of relationship functioning can explain the larger overall crossover effects on women compared to men. We use data from the German Family Panel pairfam ...
