Gendered gaps to tuberculosis prevention and care in Kenya: a political economy analysis study
Conclusion Broad contextual factors identified from the PEA widen the disparity in targeted gender efforts toward men. Following the development of effective TB policies and strategies, it is essential to have well-planned gendered responsive interventions with a clear implementation plan and monitoring system to enhance access to TB prevention and care. Metabolic Surgery for Diabetes Management
In this report, the authors noted that gastric bypass surgery provided exceptional glycemic control for patients with non–insulin dependent type 2 diabetes. Following these foundational observations, there have been multiple prospectiv e trials that have clearly delineated the superior effectiveness of metabolic surgery for glycemic outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes and overweight or obesity. For instance, the Surgical Treatment and Medications Potentially Eradicate Diabetes Efficiently (STAMPEDE) trial randomized patients with type 2 diabetes to intensive medical therapy or intensive medical therapy with metabol...

How The "Great Resignation" and COVID Unemployment Have Eroded the Employer Sponsored Insurance Model and Access to Healthcare
Am J Law Med. 2023 Dec;49(4):415-435. doi: 10.1017/amj.2024.1. Epub 2024 Apr 2.ABSTRACTPre-pandemic, employer-sponsored health insurance (ESI) covered 175 million workers and their dependents, the equivalent of 49% of the country's total population. ESI, a valuable tax preference to employer and employee alike, spurred worker job dependence on employers resulting in access to healthcare dependent upon continued employment. With the advent of the pandemic and the dramatic increase in unemployment, the number of uninsured increased by more than 2.7 million people. Country Differences in the Effects of Individual Traits on Depression in Women in Europe
AbstractMental health and, in particular, depression are of great global concern today, especially in middle- and high-income countries. These health issues show an unequal gender prevalence as they are more common in women than in men. The aim of this work is to use micro-econometric models to analyze the prevalence of depression in women in 27 European countries, as well as to quantify the effects of certain individual characteristics on the probability of experiencing depression and the degree to which it occurs. In addition, measures are proposed to assess how each country differs from the total sample. The data used p...

The objective of this research is to analyze the relationship between migrated distance and job satisfaction in Ecuador distinguishing between formal and informal workers. We use a repeated cross-section data from the National Survey of Employment, Unemployment and Underemployment from the period 2014 –2017, and ordered probit models with random parameters to meet our objective. Our results suggest that there is a negative and heterogeneous relationship between distance on migration and job satisfaction. Moreover, we found that formal workers should be compensated at $ 0.51 USD and informal wor kers should be compensated...
