The effect of an ultrasound-guided sacral erector spinae plane block on the postoperative pain of lumbar discectomy: a randomized controlled trial
CONCLUSIONS: In lumbar discectomy surgery, ultrasound-guided SESPB provided adequate analgesia by reducing opioid consumption and pain scores without complications.PMID:38482636 | DOI:10.23736/S0375-9393.23.17830-8 (Source: Minerva Anestesiologica)

Analgesia-nociception index accurately predicts inadequate pectoralis muscle fascia block (PECS) in patients undergoing breast surgery: A prospective observational study
CONCLUSIONS: The intraoperative ANI nadir <50 was strongly correlated with need for postoperative opioids. The ANI may aid in objectively evaluating the effectiveness of pectoralis muscle fascial blocks and predicting postoperative need for analgesics.PMID:38448346 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfma.2024.02.019 (Source: J Formos Med Assoc)

Comparison of the popliteal artery and the capsule of the posterior knee (IPACK) block and the genicular nerve block in primary total knee arthroplasty: A prospective randomized trial
CONCLUSION: Both GNB and IPACK blocks had a significant positive impact on postoperative pain scores within the initial 24 hours following total knee arthroplasty (TKA). In comparison with IPACK, GNB had lower opioid consumption in the early postoperative period while also promoting better mobilization.PMID:38438218 | DOI:10.15537/smj.2024.45.3.20230432 (Source: Saudi Medical Journal)
