Board Questions
I am in PEM and love tox but I don’t think a fellowship is in my future. I still like reading and learning. Rosh Review has great resources for EM and PEM for board study. Is there a book or a resource that is a ton of questions to hit the high and medium points in toxicology? Thanks. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Smoking a cig in the ambulance bay
Has anyone ever just needed to step out into the ambulance bay for a quick smoke? No? Well neither have I, I’m out here now sipping on my Luke warm coffee after getting yelled at by a nurse with a clip board. Feels about the same I’d imagine. Apparently coffee is a toxic, dangerous substance that will give everyone cancer if you drink it inside the ED. Anyone have any success getting the clip boarders to relent on this ridiculous practice? I know ACEP put out a position statement about... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

fear of retaliation
My internship year was a memorable year with many difficult moments. Our relationship with one supervisor was toxic. We spoke up to the training director in our effort in trying to improve the situation and our learning experience. It only made the situation worse as the level of hostility increased and things became unnecessarily personal. It got so bad that my peers and I were going to reach out to the APA, but decided to keep our mouths shut due to the fear of retaliation. We obeyed and... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

My Lessons as a Unwilling Intern
So I guess I am an old Millennial as my residency started in the last days of industry lunches (good) and 30+ hour shifts (bad)? Anyhow, I did a transitional internship and then advanced training at a (different) place regarded as toxic by many. My thoughts here are about internship. I had to do 3 months of pediatrics. Didn’t like it. Spent the first month complaining the whole time to my co-residents. So I complained and complained. Got bad evaluations. Didn’t make me any happier. Then I... How to change a toxic medical school environment
Hey guys! Does anyone have advice on what to do when your medical school refuses to take even small steps towards accommodating, supporting, and protecting its students and their emotional well-being? Is there anything that can be done aside from asking for help (and repeatedly being shut down)? Feeling desperate. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Can I be a med student again?
Last year I drop out of a USMD medical school because of personal reasons. Here is my story so you have more background I graduated with a 4.0 GPA undergraduate but when I was studying for the MCAT at my home, I had many family problems because I have very toxic parents this lead to not having time to study because they always whining about "I didn't have time for them and that I was at there home the least I can do was doing chores and dedicate time to them" This lead to my bad study... I wasted 10 years trying to study for the MCAT. Should I keep trying or should I change careers
Hello Everyone, I am 28 yo . I am reaching out with the hope that I can get some insight or opinion, for I have failed to reach a conclusion on my own and I it has been taking an emotional toll on me. I am in a critical situation. I have been premed since I was a freshman in college. I excelled in all my classes up until I was a junior. I had a 4.0 as a Biology Premed. Things went downhill from there, I started partying, getting into toxic relationships, etc. and the worst of all is that I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Local Anaesthetic Toxicity question..
Greetings to everyone in the forum! I am still an unwise resident so I would like anyone with experience to comment.. After I read about lidocaine infusion benefits in open colorectal surgery I 've been convincing some of my more ''open minded'' attendings to run it intraop and in PACU in selected patients with no liver disease, at 2mg/kg/hr IBW. My issue is that surgeons regularly infiltrate the wound with 0.375% ropi, usually at a total dose of 75-150mg, during closure. Could this... Local Anaesthetic Toxicity question..
