Mid Term Elections- Lessons Learned
The results of the mid term elections were pretty clear to me that the country is still moderate/centrist and for many states that is the candidate which will win elections. I hope the era of Trump is over and TOXIC TRUMP will go retire in his multiple homes. Trump the person, isn't good for the GOP or this nation. While I voted for Mr. Trump 2 x in previous elections, I believe his time is past and the nation needs to move on from the man. We can continue to debate policies, disagree on... 2022 Internal Medicine Program Reviews for Match 2023
Hi everyone. Attention all rotating medical students/residents: please give us your experiences at hospitals across the country. I cannot be alone in struggling to find genuine reviews of certain hospitals/programs. While its great to do Q&As with residents for interview day and being able to interview with residents, its hard to ascertain if they are being completely truthful about their program. I mean, every program I have interviewed at says their residents are family/non-toxic- that... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Advice for dealing with toxic PhD program?
I will start this post with an honest statement that I will not be sharing any identifying information such as the school I am enrolled at, year I am in the program, etc. If you are an applicant looking to apply for future semesters and want to steer clear of this program, please message me directly. I am currently a student in a clinical psychology PhD program in the US. I have been having an absolutely unreal, horrible experience in my program, and am looking for some validation, support... Do MD schools care about students?
Hello. I was dismissed from a DO program over failure of one class (4 credits out of 30) in my first semester of attendance. But was overall a decent student (B+ average). I had a personal situation, but school objected to an LOA. Contrary to popular opinion here on SDN, I reapplied, and received a few interviews at domestic schools (not Caribbean). The environment at that school was beyond toxic. My question is - how do you feel your MD school treats you? If faculty, do you tend to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Taking a higher level Orgo class
Hey guys just wondering about your thoughts. I took both of my Orgo classes in 2020 which was pretty much a disastrous year for me. I had to p/ f Orgo 1 and bio 2 in spring of 2020 (optional and I had to p/f the entire semester ) and I got a big fat c in Orgo 2 the following semester. A lot of it is on me but I also lost many family members throughout the year and was stuck in a toxic household with little support and help. My grades jumped significantly the following year and I’ve been... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

PGY2 looking at Path
Hello all! First, please don’t quote. Second, I am a PGY2 that was terminated from residency just last week and am seeking advice. To try and summate: I completed roughly 19 months of residency (2020-early 2022) in a primary care field. Due to a toxic program and work environment (was bullied, picked on, etc) I ended up resigning while trying to figure out if I even wanted to stay in medicine. For the next few months that followed I searched high and low for jobs and it became utterly... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

General question about resumes/ med school
I'm currently making my resume for undergrad and decided to write a summary. I searched that med school is not considered a 'graduate school' in the US (which btw makes no sense?). However, I want to include my future aspirations here without giving off toxic gunner energy yet will be broad enough to not be deceiving. I'm doing this as my university labs usually take more people interested in PhD/MPH programs verses MD. How would you phrase 'interested in medical school' in a subtle way? Is PM & R Boring?
I'm in the 1st week of my M4 PM&R rotation. I really wanted to like this rotation, and was strongly considering going into PM&R. But so far, it feels pretty boring. Mostly stroke patients. We manage bowel regimens, mostly for constipation. They have neuropathic pain - we start gabapentin. They have HTN - we add on another antihypertensive. The most exciting thing to happen so far was a patient getting an AKI 2/2 TMP-SMX renal toxicity. Overall it's felt like IM-light. The outpatient clinic... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What schools are the most supportive and/or have toxic environments?
I’m finalizing my school list over the next couple of days, and I’m realizing that I don’t know much how supportive the environment is at several of the schools I’m applying to. I’ve been told (by adcoms here!) that I’m competitive for most schools in the country, and to choose schools based on where I want to go. I will have 35 on my list, but I want to make sure I avoid schools with toxic environments as much as reasonable. Does anybody have any insight into what schools are great places... Toxic Programs - Name and Shame
Lets start a running list of programs that are known to be toxic. I just matched this year and feel blessed to have gotten the inside scoop from alumni at my school. I found it helpful to know which programs have a bad reputation and thought we could come up with a list to help future applicants now that the stakes are low. I'll start: Northwell program in NY: one of my friends knows derm residents at this program and there have been issues with attendings treating residents poorly and...
