The effect of dexamethasone on functional pain following Transoral Robotic Surgery: a randomized double blinded clinical trial
CONCLUSION: There were no differences in the pain intensity in the two treatment groups allocated to a basic multimodal analgesic package and either high-dose dexamethasone or low-dose dexamethasone treatment. The trial is the first RCT to include pain measurement during a procedure-relevant activity, thus creating a platform for future recovery studies.PMID:37902607 | DOI:10.1080/00016489.2023.2269998 (Source: Acta Oto-Laryngologica)

Why in hospital following transoral robotic lingual tonsillectomy?
CONCLUSION: The study estimates that the majority of patients may be discharged on postoperative day 2 following TORS-L.PMID:37897327 | DOI:10.1080/00016489.2023.2265983 (Source: Acta Oto-Laryngologica)

Treprostinil transition from subcutaneous to intravenous in pediatric patients with Pulmonary Hypertension undergoing a risky procedure.
Conclusions: This is our center's first experience performing the transition of SC to IV treprostinil. The procedure can be safely made by harsh supervision in a specialized center without having any complications. (Source: European Respiratory Journal)

Adenoidectomy for otitis media with effusion (OME) in children
CONCLUSIONS: When assessed with the GRADE approach, the evidence for adenoidectomy in children with OME is very uncertain. Adenoidectomy may reduce the persistence of OME, although evidence about the effect of this on hearing is unclear. For patients and carers, a return to normal hearing is likely to be important, but few studies measured this outcome. We did not identify any evidence on disease-specific quality of life. There were few data on adverse effects, in particular postoperative bleeding. The risk of haemorrhage appears to be small, but should be considered when choosing a treatment strategy for children with OME...

Assessment of middle ear function after conventional or endoscopic microdebrider assisted adenoidectomy
CONCLUSIONS: The endoscopic microdebrider assisted method for adenoidectomy has a definite advantage of better visualisation resulting in better clearance of tissue, leading to enhanced middle ear function compared to conventional curettage.PMID:37814977 | DOI:10.14639/0392-100X-N2593 (Source: Acta Otorhinolaryngologica Italica)
