Outpatient tonsils question
The 2019 AAO-HNFS guidelines for tonsillectomy state that pediatric patients with severe OSA should be admitted for post-op monitoring and more specifically that obese patients with BMI >95% should undergo sleep studies to check for severe OSA. Interesting H & N case
Here's an interesting case 65 year old patient, heavy smoker. Had a partial laryngectomy and ipsilateral (right) neck dissection in 2019 for a pT1 pN0 (0/20) G3 SCC in the right supraglottic area. Clear margins, no adjuvant treatment. A suspicious lymph node was palpated in the left neck (level II) during follow-up, biopsy showed SCC, p16 negative. 7-year-old girl dies during tonsillectomy A 7-year-old South Carolina girl died one minute into surgery to remove her tonsils, her parents told CNN affiliate WHNS. www.cnn.com They specifically say she arrested 1 minute into surgery. Anaphylaxis maybe? MH? Surgeon injected local directly into a vessel? Details are sparse but it’s tragic. As safe as anesthesia and surgery have become, the **** we do is still dangerous as hell. Pts requesting Anesthesiologist
Friendly ER doc here scheduled for upcoming elective tonsillectomy. I planned on requesting MD instead of CRNA. Do you guys get pissed off in what you prob consider to be routine and easy cases by pts requesting an Anesthesiologist? Time you could have spent making more money through supervision? I'm just curious. I don't know whether the doc will be annoyed or flattered. I don't really care at the end of the day because I'm still going to request it but I was just curious. Mystery illness - seeking opinions
Hi! I guess I am just looking for opinions on whether or not I should seek CF testing. I'm sorry this is so long! Thank you in advance to anyone who can offer some advice. I've been "sick" on and off for a few years now. As a child I had strep throat A LOT until my tonsils were removed. I was also suspected to have asthma. I don't know how it was decided I didn't. My grandson is in the Hospital.. I am having one of those days :(
Hi.. you all may have seen my post about kids with CF reaching out to kids with CF. My grandson is 6 yrs old has CF. He is such a amazing kid and so smart. I think he knows more about his meds and schedule than I do! He has sinus issues has always has had a runny nose :) he takes zrytec and cincular plus all his other meds :0 He had a sinus infection and even with predisone and antibiotic he got worse.
